“Much obliged for your kind words, Mr. Chen, however, who will end up rotting in jail is still up in the air!” Qin Youxuan waved her hand and arrogantly strode away.
Hearing the sound of a vase shattering behind her, a smirk formed at the corners of her mouth.
She swiftly moved to the side of the hallway and pushed the elevator button.
She reached into her bag for the recording device, a smile spreading from the corners of her eyes to her eyebrows.
She was certain she could finally bring this wily old man down!
As the elevator’s number remained unchanged for a long while, Qin Youxuan furrowed her brows.
In the ward, Chen Chuang was busy smashing everything within his reach.
He called his lawyer to prepare a lawsuit, but after calming down, something struck him.
“Quick! Stop that little bitch! She might have a recorder on her!”
Successful businessmen are invariably careful.
Qin Youxuan had suddenly appeared at his doorstep, her attitude having undergone a complete 180-degree shift. Upon closer consideration, he realized something was off.
“Have someone wait at the hospital exit immediately. If she escapes today, you’re all fired!” Chen Chuang kicked the foot of the bed hard, causing him to gasp in pain.
Glancing at the stunned bodyguards, he roared, “What are you standing around for? Get after her!”
The bodyguards hurried after her.
Qin Youxuan, noticing the elevator still stuck at the same floor and the bodyguards rushing out of the ward, silently cursed her luck.
Unable to wait for the lift, she quickly pushed open the fire door and dashed towards the staircase. “There she is, chase her!”
Upon seeing the bodyguards catching up, Qin Youxuan clutched her bag, removed her high heels, and ran barefoot down the stairs.
Within moments, she was intercepted.
“Hand it over.” A bodyguard stretched out his hand, his eyes fixated on Qin Youxuan’s bag, closing in on her step by step.
Another was communicating with the rest of their crew through a walkie-talkie.
Soon after, a phone rang.
“Mr. Chen said to bring her as well. Daring to deceive Mr. Chen? She is in for a treat!” the bodyguard sneered, glancing at Qin Youxuan backing away, clenching his fists, ready to make a move.
“None of you come closer, or else I’ll jump from here!” Qin Youxuan, clutching her bag, leaned against the window of the stairwell, her body halfway out of the window.
The two bodyguards exchanged glances and paused. However, they quickly resumed their advance.
They were sure she wouldn’t dare to jump.
The moment they reached out to pull her back, Qin Youxuan, who had been perfectly motionless, suddenly swung her bag with full force at the bodyguards, turning quickly towards the stairwell entrance. The bodyguard rummaged through the bag non-stop.
“There is no recorder, she still has it! Chase her!”
After finally reaching the stairwell, Qin Youxuan couldn’t even catch her breath before bumping into another group of bodyguards chasing her from below, leaving her nowhere to go.
They quickly apprehended her. The recorder was found in her pocket.
A vicious slap landed on her face.
“Not able to run anymore?” The bodyguard whom she had attacked with her bag became furious and slapped her across the face.
Just as he was about to deliver a second slap, his wrist was gripped and suddenly twisted with considerable force.
A heart-rending scream emanated from the bodyguard who initiated the attack.
Qin Youxuan, dazed by the slap she had just received, heard the sound of bones breaking and lifting her head, her eyes met a pair of charming, bewitching eyes….
