The butler respectfully replied, glanced at Qin Youxuan and added, “Actually, some of these might be exaggerations. However, his medical expertise is beyond doubt. Master really cares about Mrs. Lan, and if Diwu Zexuan truly excels in medicine, he wouldn’t hesitate to move heaven and earth to find him.”
“I heard Diwu Zexuan’s consultation fee scares people away. He can’t be hired without paying a hefty sum,” the butler sighed.
“Is there truly someone out there who can wake someone up from a vegetative state?” Qin Youxuan pressed her lips together, her attitude skeptical.
If someone medically recognized as vegetative could wake up, that would certainly be terrifying.
But then again, she didn’t really care whether Jin Lan lived or died.
Even if Jin Lan did get treated successfully by Diwu Zexuan, she wouldn’t escape the sanctions of the law.
“I am visiting the cemetery tomorrow. I probably won’t be able to make it to the office. I haven’t seen my father for a while. If he asks about me, could you please let him know for me?”
“Yes, Miss. Even if I don’t mention it, Master would already be aware,” responded the butler.
“He may not remember.” The light in Qin Youxuan’s eyes dimmed, and she turned and went back into her room.
Maybe it was due to the discomfort of her period or the fact that Jiang Yu’s death anniversary was the next day, her mood was affected. She felt a heaviness in her chest.
She had dinner and went to bed early.
In the middle of the night, she found herself embraced by a warm chest.
Qin Youxuan’s body stiffened, but she relaxed after recognizing the familiar scent.
Her petite body nestled into his embrace, murmuring, “You came late today…”
“Busy. Did you miss me?” Dan Hanjie gently pinched her cheeks flushed from the stuffy quilts, then contentedly closed his eyes, holding her closely.
Qin Youxuan woke up early the next morning.
As she opened her eyes and was about to get up, she realized she was still tightly held. She hesitated.
Looking up, she saw Dan Hanjie’s devilishly handsome face.
His perfect features were extraordinarily deep. His seductive eyes lightly closed in sleep, long eyelashes resting on his eyelids, devoid of any malice.
This version of him, aside from his good looks, had an indescribable sense of loneliness that stirred compassion in her.
Just as Qin Youxuan furrowed her brows, she sensed the hand around her waist tightening. The next moment, she found herself looking into a pair of deep black eyes.
“So, you like to stare at me while I’m sleeping. Are you satisfied?” Dan Hanjie asked, his lips turned up in a mischievous smirk, his tone lazy, slightly complacent.
“…Who’s looking at you? I was just curious, why haven’t you left yet?” As she said this, Qin Youxuan wriggled out from his embrace.
Her petite figure got off the bed and walked to the window, pulling the curtain open.
The morning light flooded in from the window, illuminating the room.
“It’s already seven o’clock. Aren’t you going to the office today?” She looked at him, puzzled. He was usually gone by this time.
It felt strange, him still lingering in her bed.
“I am accompanying you today,” Dan Hanjie casually responded as he lounged on the bed, his long legs crossed, looking at her sideways.
Qin Youxuan was taken aback, she then lowered her gaze and fiddled with her fingers, saying hesitantly, “You don’t have to do this. I’ve been used to visiting my mother’s grave alone all these years. It doesn’t make me sad anymore.”
