“I don’t know…” Qin Youxuan stepped back until she was against the wall, her gaze dropping weakly. “He never tells me what he’s doing, I don’t know anything.”
“Mr. Jie simply doesn’t want you to worry.”
“Worry… It’s his actions that make me worry.” Qin Youxuan lifted her head to look directly into Yao’s eyes, “I don’t understand why he goes through all this trouble if marriage brings him so much hassle.”
What does a year of marriage even mean to him?
“About that… I am not certain either. If Miss Qin really wants to know, you should ask Mr. Jie directly.” Yao blinked in surprise, giving a respectful response.
“If he was willing to tell me, I wouldn’t have to ask you.”
He never tells her anything.
In the end, everything he does is supposedly for her own good.
Even when he exhausts himself, falls ill, or gets injured… it’s all because of her.
She no longer knows what is good and what isn’t.
All she knows is that she absolutely dislikes being kept in the dark about everything.
The lights in the operating room went out.
Qin Youxuan quickly straightened up and walked towards the door.
“The patient is severely fatigued and has lost a lot of blood. He needs to rest. The wound has been treated. Remember not to get it wet or strain it during recovery. He will be shifted to the intensive care unit for observation tonight. The nurse will fill you in on the rest.”
The attending physician came out first, removed his mask, and gave a succinct update.
With those words, he glanced at Yao who was standing behind Qin Youxuan. Seeing that Yao didn’t speak, he left.
“Miss Qin, stay here with Mr. Jie. I’ll go handle the admission procedures. The news about Mr. Jie being in the hospital must be kept secret. Also, I need to manage the situation at Yujing Villa…”
“I understand. I will take care of him. I appreciate your assistance with everything else.” Qin Youxuan softly agreed and walked towards the room to which Dan Hanjie was being moved.
Watching her hurried figure, an indescribable look flashed across Yao’s expressionless face.
After a second of hesitation, he followed the direction the doctor had left in, quickly catching up.
With a glance, his man immediately pushed open the door to the attending physician’s office.
Yao strode in, surveying the room.
Upon catching sight of Yao, the attending physician immediately stood up in respect.
“What exactly is Mr. Jie’s condition?” Yao cut straight to the point.
“As I mentioned earlier, Mr. Jie merely fainted due to extreme fatigue along with a high fever caused by emotional turbulence. The primary concern was significant blood loss, but timely treatment prevented any serious harm.” The attending physician hurriedly answered.
“Were there no other underlying conditions triggered?” Yao’s gaze darkened, scrutinizing every expression on the doctor’s face.
“Indeed, there were none.”
“This is your payment. Keep your mouth shut. If a word of this leaks out, both of us will pay the price.” Yao casually tossed an envelope onto the table. Seeing the physician nod like a pecking rooster, he finally relaxed and turned to leave.
As long as Mr. Jie doesn’t have other issues, everything should be fine.
“Assistant Yao, what should we do now?” The bodyguard beside him quickly stepped forward as Yao exited the office.
“Go back to the villa and figure out what exactly happened. Also, pass on my order. No one is to speak a word about Mr. Jie’s injury or hospitalization. Anyone who disobeys will deal with the consequences.”
Having stayed awake all night in the hospital, Qin Youxuan had finally fallen asleep from exhaustion beside Dan Hanjie’s bed.
