Chapter 317: Provoked Him Again
Resentment filled his demonic eyes, as if he wished to strangle her on the spot!
“I didn’t mean that, I just…” Qin Youxuan was cut off and couldn’t articulate her words, clueless about how to explain herself.
“Hold on, you said you only took the pill once, are you sure you’ve only had it once, never before this?” Dan Hanjie suddenly spoke, his gaze harsh and focused.
His deep-set features and tightened lips conveyed a sense of alienation and deep contemplation, making it impossible to discern his thoughts.
Before the marriage agreement, she had never contemplated contraception.
She hadn’t even thought about it.
She did not know whether to consider herself lucky or unfortunate–despite so many encounters with him, she never got pregnant…
Dan Hanjie swore under his breath, then shouted, “You are so irresponsible about taking medication without even knowing if you’re pregnant!”
Qin Youxuan blinked her innocent eyes in surprise.
Before she could figure out why he was freaking out again, she saw Dan Hanjie, previously resting in his hospital bed, pushing himself up and pressing the call button.
Before Qin Youxuan could ask, she saw the nurses rushing in, summoned by Hanjie’s incessant calls.
“Take her for a check-up, now!”
“…” Qin Youxuan was bemused.
The nurse who rushed into the VIP ward was equally confused.
“Urine and blood tests…I need to know as soon as possible whether she’s pregnant!” Hanjie growled, his devastatingly handsome face displaying such fury that the nurse dared not speak out. She silently guided the still-dumbfounded Qin Youxuan out of the room.
They had almost reached the door when Qin Youxuan came to her senses, she turned back and protested, “Dan Hanjie, I don’t…”
Her words were cut off by his menacing glare.
The next second, the equally terrified nurse was already escorting her to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.
Not long after entering the examination room, Qin Youxuan saw Yao, who had just been evicted, hurrying back towards her.
He respectfully took up a spot at her side.
By that point, Qin Youxuan had no energy left to ask. Apart from Hanjie, nobody else would have someone standing guard, even during a medical examination…
“Miss Qin, Mr. Jie has asked you to return to the ward once your examination is complete. The results will be sent directly to him.” Yao relayed respectfully from behind her.
Qin Youxuan kept silent. She completed all the procedures and returned to Dan Hanjie’s VIP suite.
Just as she arrived at the door, she heard the rustling sound of papers being turned and paused her steps.
As she pushed the door open, she saw Dan Hanjie, who had been lying in bed earlier, now leaning against his headboard.
In his hands, were stacks of medical reports. With each one he examined, his eyes seemed to grow heavier…
Qin Youxuan felt a chill down her spine, she murmured quietly, “I just had my period recently, how could I possibly be pregnant…”
Hearing her words, Dan Hanjie seemed to realize his behavior was somewhat laughable. He abruptly placed all the reports on the bedside table with a thud, and turned to look at her.
His intense gaze was as if he was going to devour her, causing Qin Youxuan to shudder.
She instinctively stepped back towards the door.
“If you dare take another step back, I will chop off your feet!”
Qin Youxuan froze, she barely dared to breathe, staring at him in astonishment.
She didn’t know what she had done to anger him again.
“Aren’t you coming over!”
Qin Youxuan swallowed hard, only venturing forward once she was sure her life wasn’t in danger.
She eyed the breakfast on the bedside table and checked the time, “You can’t eat this anymore, I’ll prepare it again for you. You need to eat something before taking your medicine, you can’t do it on an empty stomach.”
She never once asked why he had fainted from exhaustion or why he had hurt himself.
