Chapter 347: Don’t Believe a Single Word
She fell to her knees in front of Qin Mo with a thud, her eyebrows furrowed in distress, but she made no attempt to stop her.
Qin Youxuan kowtowed heavily.
Tears silently dripped onto the floor.
Her mother married into the Qin family while pregnant with another man’s child, she, an illegitimate daughter, took the place of the Qin family’s eldest son, free from the pointing and whispering of others. Qin Mo had been more than fair to her.
She was ignorant, not appreciating her good fortune.
She always thought that Jin Lan and her son had taken her home from her, but she never knew that she had stolen the position that should have belonged to Jin Chenye, and kept accusing him of being the illegitimate child that broke up someone else’s family.
The impact was too much for Qin Youxuan to bear, and her mind went blank.
“It’s your father who should apologize to you…”
Old tears filled Qin Mo’s eyes.
He moved around the table, went forward, reaching out to help Qin Youxuan up.
He held her tightly in his arms.
“Your mother is a good woman, she just got involved with the wrong person, causing hardship to both her and you. Don’t believe a word of those reports in the newspapers!”
The light in Qin Youxuan’s eyes dimmed, and after a few seconds of hesitation, she finally faintly asked in a hoarse voice, “Who is that man?”
“My biological father.”
She had seen the photos circulated online. The photos only contained hospital records proving that her mother was pregnant before her marriage, and Qin Mo’s DNA test report showing that she was not Qin Mo’s daughter.
However, there was not a single word about her biological father, which led to the extreme views on the internet, with everyone pointing the finger at the pregnant and unmarried Jiang Yu.
Qin Mo frowned and did not immediately respond, but looked at Dan Hanjie standing behind Qin Youxuan, seemingly at a loss for words.
Dan Hanjie’s face was cold, devoid of any emotion.
It seemed as if none of the people there mattered to him.
Unlike Jin Chenye’s tense expression, Dan Hanjie appeared indifferent, seemingly unconcerned about what Qin Mo might say.
Or maybe, he firmly believed that even Qin Mo didn’t know who her biological father was.
Qin Youxuan thought Qin Mo was avoiding the subject because Dan Hanjie was an outsider. She bit her lip, turned around and said, “Can you go first?”
“Are you kicking me out?”
Dan Hanjie raised an eyebrow, his eyes gloomy.
Qin Youxuan was stunned, unable to respond to his deep, dark eyes.
She just wanted an answer, but clearly, with Dan Hanjie in the room, Qin Mo would not speak.
Her only option was to get Dan Hanjie to leave first.
But it seemed like he was angry…
“That’s not what I meant…”
“The only outsider here is you, not me. If you don’t leave, should I?” Jin Chenye counter-argued in an ill-mannered way, his gentle eyes emitting a sharp light, “Mr. Dan, you are not welcome here. Please.”
“Outsider? I’m not so sure.” Dan Hanjie smirked, ignoring Jin Chenye, but looking directly at Qin Youxuan, bending down to place a kiss on the corner of her lips.
Taken aback by his sudden move, Qin Youxuan didn’t have time to avoid him, nor did she remember she should.
After Dan Hanjie finished kissing her, he looked up, his defiant eyes challenging Jin Chenye.
“Youxuan and I are legally married, and it just so happens that Youxuan has no relation to the Qin family. If we’re talking about outsiders, both of us are outsiders here. Mr. Jin, since you’re so bothered by my presence, I’ll take my wife and leave.”
When Qin Mo heard Dan Hanjie mentioning their marriage once again, he finally reacted.
His old eyes fluttered as he turned to Qin Youxuan, “Is what he said true?”
