Chapter 415: Guilt is Written All Over Your Face
Unsubtly complaining about her choice of a name being less than regal.
“If you’re so smart, why don’t you come up with one!” Qin Youxuan bit her lip, placing the little cub on his thigh.
The cub, who had been feistily biting her clothes moments ago, became good as gold the moment it landed on Dan Hanjie’s lap.
It quickly climbed down from his thigh and settled down at his feet.
Even the cub knew he wasn’t one to be trifled with; it was just too clever…
“This is your wolf.” Dan Hanjie raised his captivating eyes slightly and gave her a glance.
His implication was, her pet, of course, should be named by her.
“Let’s name it Da Bai, look how well it matches its white fur, and don’t you think it looks cute all fluffy?” Qin Youxuan excitedly held the wolf cub and started calling it “Da Bai”.
“Da Bai, you must be obedient. When you grow up and have baby cubs, we will call them Xiao Bai, how does that sound?”
“It’s a male wolf.” Dan Hanjie lazily lifted his eyes, throwing a dampener on her plans.
Regardless, its name is Da Bai.
Qin Youxuan, huffing with annoyance, picked up Da Bai and turned to leave the bedroom, running downstairs to ask the housekeeper what it could eat.
“Miss Qin, let me take care of it. It’s late, and if you don’t go back upstairs now, I’m afraid Mr. Jie will be angry,” the housekeeper respectfully reminded her as he took over Da Bai from her.
“I understand, thank you.”
“It’s no trouble, no trouble at all,” the housekeeper quickly waved her off.
Qin Youxuan patted Da Bai’s head, reassured when he didn’t resist the housekeeper’s touch, and then she headed upstairs with ease.
Just as she reached the door, her phone rang in her pocket.
Qin Youxuan took out her phone and froze completely at the sight of the name flashing on the screen.
After hesitating for a few seconds, she answered the call.
“Youxuan, it’s me…” Jin Chenye’s weary voice transmitted from the phone.
“What do you need?” Qin Youxuan gripped her phone tightly and tried to hold her composure, feeling as if eons had passed since she last heard his voice.
Jin Chenye’s voice was just as it had always been, gentle and soft, still polite and amiable despite everything.
Qin Youxuan listened in silence.
In the end, she replied softly, “I’ll let know once I finalize the date.”
She hung up the call and stood there holding the phone for several minutes before she realized she’d been spacing out. She put the phone back into her pocket, pushed open the door, and entered the room.
Dan Hanjie had already changed into his robe and was lying on the bed.
With a slightly unbuttoned collar revealing his muscular chest that under the light, seemed captivatingly beautiful.
His dark eyes glared unhappily at the cautious Qin Youxuan who tiptoed inside, his gaze becoming dangerous.
“Done running your errands? I was just about to tell you something.” Qin Youxuan was puzzled, and she responded with a forced laugh.
“Your laugh looks dreadful, it clearly says you’re guilty about something.” Dan Hanjie ungraciously remarked as his tall figure sat up from the bed, tossed the blanket aside, and moved towards her.
The next second, Qin Youxuan was thrown onto the bed.
He pinned her down with such force that she could barely breathe.
Through gritted teeth, he spat out, “A mere wolf cub has managed to steal you away, Qin Youxuan, can you disregard me any more than this!”
Qin Youxuan stiffened her neck as she gasped for air, “Da Bai could never compare to you. You see, it’s just really young. Since it’s my first time keeping such a rare pet, I wanted to give it some attention.”
“Is that so?” Dan Hanjie quirked an eyebrow, his displeasure was not diminished in the least.
“Of course, if Da Bai was not a gift from you, I wouldn’t even have bothered to take care of it!” It felt as if Qin Youxuan almost took her heart out to prove her sincerity.
“If you find it burdensome, let the housekeeper take care of it. Taking care of me should be enough.”
