Relaxing his grip, Dan Hanjie set down the sleeping girl, delicately placing a kiss on her forehead before slowly retreating away.
“Mr. Jie, this is the information Mr. Jinchen managed to find. We’re starting to see some progress.” Yao respectfully informed as he stood before the desk.
Dan Hanjie sat on a sofa chair, holding a cigarette between two fingers. The white smoke curled around his captivating face, outlining a sense of aloofness.
The one image that kept appearing in front of him was Qin Youxuan’s glum face.
She was trying hard to suppress herself.
Seeing his delayed reaction, Yao couldn’t help but call out to him again.
“Do we know who took Wei’er away?” Dan Hanjie’s cold eyes flashed open as he took a drag from his cigarette, harshly extinguishing it in an ashtray.
The exhaled smoke enveloped the study room.
Giving his indifferent face a bloodthirsty and violent appearance.
“Not yet. However, according to our investigation, an unidentified individual was spotted near Yujing Villa prior to Miss Bai’s kidnapping. This is a photo captured by the surveillance camera outside the villa.”
Yao handed over the photos he was holding.
In the photo was a tall man.
His tall figure was shrouded by the night, with strands of hair on his forehead masking his eyebrows and eyes, making it difficult to see his face clearly.
The studded combat boots he wore were particularly conspicuous.
Yao paused before continuing.
“I’ve sent the photo to Mr. Jinchen. Taking advantage of the Jiang Family’s connections, he is currently searching the entire city for this man. We managed to discover a trace of the man on one of the street camera’s footage.”
Yao pointed to another photo behind the previous one.
The photo showed an enlarged image of the man’s face. Due to the distance and the side profile shot, one could barely make out his features.

The hand clasping the photo abruptly tightened, crumpling the edge of the photo into a mess.

He tossed it into the trash can.
“Bai Huo is already dead.”
“Even if he was alive, he wouldn’t have any reason to hide. Yao, are you asking me to believe that a dead man has come back to life, turned against me, and set up traps to oppose me behind the scenes?” Dan Hanjie turned around to sneer coldly at Yao.
Yao quickly bowed his head.
Bai Huo’s place in Dan Hanjie’s heart had always been respected and unquestioned.
Despite Bai Wei’s repeated provocations against his authority, Dan Hanjie never ordered her death and just had her taken away— indicating how much he valued their bond.
“Mr. Jie, if this is merely a coincidence, perhaps we could ask the young mistress. She saw the mysterious man on Extreme Love Island.”
Qin Youxuan might be able to identify if it was Bai Huo.
Dan Hanjie was silent for a long while before he stood up from the chair, took his coat, and left the study room.

“I thought you went out,” Qin Youxuan said first, blinking her cat-like eyes.
In her arms was Da Bai. Upon seeing Dan Hanjie, Da Bai immediately wriggled out of her arms, jumped to the ground and ran away like a blur.
