Her voice was very soft, each word spoken as if afraid to startle him.
Dan Hanjie did not respond, his tightly closed eyes remained shut, but the corners of his mouth faintly lifted.
Qin Youxuan did not know what he was dreaming about, but she knew it must be a good dream.
“Let me be with you, sleep peacefully.”
Qin Youxuan leaned over to kiss his forehead, her cheeks pink with embarrassment. She extinguished the Soothing Fragrance and lay down next to the bed.
“Madam, everything is ready. This is the menu for tonight’s dinner, is there anything else you need?” The butler presented the menu to Qin Youxuan for her to review.
“Nothing for now, but Dan Hanjie likes drinking Lafite from ’86. Prepare that in advance.” Qin Youxuan handed back the menu to the butler, walked over to the dining room, pointing at a vase.
“Replace the flowers in there with fox tail lilies. The fragrance is refreshing, and it also has calming properties. Consider having some in the living room too. Have all of them replaced.”
Upon hearing her instructions, the servants started bustling around.
There had been a heavy silence in the Yujing Villa for several days, everyone was dying for relief. If their master was unhappy, they wouldn’t dare go about their business freely.
Now everything was back to normal, everyone was much more relaxed.
Seeing that everyone had tasks to do, Qin Youxuan also kept herself busy. She sneaked into the kitchen to check on the soup she was simmering.
“Madam, it’s quite smoky in the kitchen. If you want soup, you can ask the chef to make it to avoid getting burnt. If something happens, Mr. Jie may blame us,” warned the butler who was walking by the kitchen and was surprised to see Qin Youxuan.
Qin Youxuan quickly stepped forward and covered his mouth with her hand.
“Lower your voice, don’t let anyone hear.”
She was just making soup for Dan Hanjie, she didn’t want everyone to find out before it was ready.
If she fails to make a decent soup, it would be embarrassing.
The butler was stunned, seeing Qin Youxuan looking serious, he quickly made a gesture to indicate silence.
Only then did Qin Youxuan breathe a sigh of relief and retreated.
She returned to the simmering pot, lifting the lid to check on the soup.
“So, madam, you are making the nourishing soup for Mr. Jie personally,” said the butler, finally getting the idea.
No wonder there wasn’t a single soup dish on the menu provided by madam. He had enquired again and again for confirmation, wondering if anything was missed.
So, madam was intending to cook herself.
“…I don’t know how,” replied Qin Youxuan, her cheeks reddening at the butler’s questioning. She hummed.
She had followed the soup recipe to cook for quite a while. Yet, she wasn’t sure how the soup would taste.
“If Mr. Jie knows it’s handmade by you, he will definitely drink it all.”
“I just don’t want him to know…”
Qin Youxuan turned around and fixed her gaze on the butler.
Seeing her stare made the butler break into a nervous sweat, he quickly promised, “I won’t tell anyone.”
“Thank you,” she said, turning back to add more ingredients to the pot.
Dan Hanjie, you must accept this apology stew in its entirety, even if it tastes bad, or else I’ll be heartbroken.
After all, this was her first time cooking.
Once Qin Youxuan was through with the preparations, she was about to go upstairs to call others when a tall figure appeared at the staircase.
Dan Hanjie appeared indifferent, looking much better after a nap. His black shirt added a touch of coldness to his charming face, enhancing his aura of authority without showing any anger.
