Seeing that it was alright, Qin Youxuan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“Miss, are you okay?”
Hearing her voice, the butler rushed out from the kitchen urgently.
“I’m fine, I just accidentally kicked Da Bai, I must have hurt it.” Qin Youxuan explained as she picked up Da Bai from in front of the dining table and turned to go upstairs.
Feeling her low spirits, Da Bai obediently nestled in her arms, occasionally poking out his tongue to lick the back of her hand.
Only when she was certain that Da Bai was alright did Qin Youxuan feel assured enough to put him down.
She picked up a law book by her side, trying to pass the long waiting time by drowning herself in the sea of books.
No news is good news.
At least, she knows he’s safe.
After what felt like forever on the same page, just as Qin Youxuan was steadying her heart to take notes, her phone rang.
She nervously reached for her phone and quickly swiped to read the message.
“Don’t you wonder about your own past, and who your real father is?”
It was still an unknown number.
Qin Youxuan’s fingers froze.
She stared at that message on her phone screen for a very long time, without any reaction, forgetting to even delete it.
What the hell was going on.
Once is a coincidence, but what about twice?
What about a third time?
Without Dan Hanjie around, Qin Youxuan felt her nerves start to fray. After staring at the message for a long time, she stood up from the table, took her phone, and went downstairs to find the butler.
“What can I do for you, Miss?”
“I’d like you to help me trace a number. I can’t be sure if there’s a problem, but I’m feeling a bit uneasy. I want to know the details of the person holding this number. Please, don’t tell Dan Hanjie right now because I’m afraid this might distract him.”
Qin Youxuan jotted down the unknown number on a piece of paper and handed it to the butler.
Dan Hanjie had instructed her that if she needed help while he wasn’t around, she could always rely on the butler.
All the personnel at Yujing Villa were meticulously selected, the butler, given his position as the chief in-charge of the villa, was especially loyal.
“I understand, I’ll have someone look into this.”
Seeing the butler’s agreement, Qin Youxuan relaxed and returned to her room to read.
When she got tired of reading but didn’t feel like sleeping, she simply grabbed the thick book and sat on the tatami on the balcony.

Suddenly, Qin Youxuan sat up from the tatami, her piercing scream shattering the peaceful surroundings.
Before she could even catch her breath from the intense pain, her phone began to ring.
Qin Youxuan held her chest with both hands, breathing heavily, she took a long time to reach for her phone.
Cold sweat soaked her forehead, trickling down her cheeks continuously.
