Before she could respond, Jiang Jinchen raised an eyebrow, “Of course, if you really feel that you owe me and want to repay me with your body, I’d be more than happy to accept!”
His slender peach blossom eyes twinkled mischievously, as he cast flirtatious glances at Yanan every now and then.
This time, Yanan’s face froze.
She stood up abruptly from the chair, picked up a pillow and threw it at his face, “You must be dreaming, Jiang Jinchen!”
Jiang Jinchen caught the pillow with one hand, put it aside, and his smile faded a bit, “This is more like you. You must be tired of acting like a lamb in front of me these past few days.”
Jiang Jinchen lifted his hand and took another bite of the apple.
Looking at the stunned Yanan, he curled his lips, “Alright, enough with that deadpan expression. I’m not dead. This debt of gratitude is written off. You don’t have to feel like you owe me anything, but if you have a conscience and wish to repay me with your body, I would accept it. So, would you consider it?”
Jiang Jinchen kept bringing up the ‘repay with your body’ part, which embarassed Yanan to the point that she couldn’t lift her head.
“Um, does your wound hurt? I can call the doctor for you.” Unable to think of anything else to say, Yanan could only find an excuse to leave.
“I’m perfectly fine, but if you can’t resist my charm and are afraid of toppling me over, I suggest you take yourself outside. I’m injured, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to satisfy you in case you can’t control yourself.”
Yanan stopped in her tracks, unsure of whether to go forward or backward.
She turned her head and glared at him, wishing she could stuff an apple in his mouth to shut him up.
“Don’t you have work to do?” Jiang Jinchen suddenly changed the subject, asking about her job.
Yanan was surprised by his sudden interest in her work, but she honestly answered, “I’ve already asked for leave from my boss. I was scolded harshly and missed an important interview. If I can’t find a big enough news story when I return, I’m going to be in big trouble.”
“You won’t get fired, will you?” Jiang Jinchen finished his apple, and with a flick of his wrist, the apple core landed neatly in the trash bin.
He used too much force, unfortunately, and ended up injuring himself, causing him to gasp in pain.
“That’s what you get for cursing me!” Yanan, worried, stepped forward to check his wound to make sure it wasn’t split open. Only then did she relax.
“Your wounds haven’t healed yet. If you need anything, just call me.”
“One kiss, in exchange for a big news story.” Jiang Jinchen hinted with a wicked smile, pointing to his lips.
He looked steadily at Yanan who was too stunned to respond.
He didn’t like her chasing down news stories like paparazzi. If this accident can bring them closer and get her fired, then it’s like killing two birds with one stone.
However, it seems like the latter is impossible for now. Therefore, he must do his best to work on the former.
Yanan comes to her senses, filled with righteous indignation and nearly spits in his face.
“It will be huge news indeed, not only enough to please your boss at the newspaper, but it might also get you a promotion.” Jiang Jinchen took out a tissue and leisurely wiped his hands.
Like a big bad wolf attempting to lure an innocent girl, he gradually baits Yanan in.
Yanan asks hesitantly. She’s not looking for a promotion, but she feels guilty for the situation she put the paper in. It would be best if she could find a solution to make things right.
