She swayed, nearly keeling over. Spinning around, she grabbed Dan Hanxi’s collar.
Clutching Dan Hanxi’s neck, she made an earnest attempt to throw him over her shoulder.
Just as she began to act, a deep voice echoed from behind, “What’s all this commotion about?”
Qin Youxuan’s body stiffened, recognizing the voice as Dan Rong’s, and she instantly withdrew her hand.
She quickly retreated, moving away from any contact with Dan Hanxi.
She wiped her arm with disgust.
She could tell that she was no match for Dan Hanxi; the arrival of Dan Rong meant her rescue.
“Father.” Dan Hanxi gave her a glance, veiled his gaze, turned, and respectfully saluted.
Behind Dan Rong were several bodyguards that never left his side.
“I told you that tonight’s banquet is of great importance, and yet you’re late. Are you purposely making a fool out of me?” Dan Rong’s reprimanded, with a stern look on his face.
His face clearly depicted the severity of a strict, commanding father.
Dan Hanxi seemed to be a constant source of worry for him.
“I was stuck in traffic and that’s why I am late, please punish me as you see fit.” Dan Hanxi responded, bowing slightly and maintaining his composed demeanor.
Hearing his words, Qin Youxuan sighed in annoyance.
That’s the excuse Dan Hanjie just used; it seemed that the Dan brothers were equally flippant in their apologies.
“No matter, at least, you are here now. Come with me to greet the elders, they’ve been waiting a long time for you. Take this seriously.” Dan Rong did not acknowledge Qin Youxuan’s presence from start to finish, and walking away without a second thought.
Dan Hanxi, about to leave, turned his head and flashed a hand sign which she couldn’t comprehend.
Qin Youxuan frowned and rolled her eyes at him.
Seeing Dan Hanxi walk away, she hesitated whether to wait for Ning Yanan here or not.
Qin Youxuan pursed her lips, deep in thought, when a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her back.
Instinctively, Qin Youxuan raised her hand, prepared to fight back, just as Dan Hanjie’s deep voice echoed, “What are you thinking about? Why didn’t you react when I approached from behind, huh?”
Unpleased with her resistance, Dan Hanjie leaned in and bit hard onto her earlobe.
Qin Youxuan stretched her hand trying to push his head away, her delicate face completely buried in his chest, her hands scratching against him like a kitten.
“Thinking about you.”
“…” Dan Hanjie’s eyes dimmed
He straightened her up, bent down, and was about to kiss her lips.
However, Qin Youxuan covered his mouth, “Why haven’t you ever told me that you have a brother?”
Dan Hanjie stiffened, the danger flashing in his brilliant eyes.
He scanned their surroundings, clutched Qin Youxuan’s shoulder, “How did you find out?”
“So, it is true? You do have a younger brother, a biological brother?” Qin Youxuan’s shoulder ached from his grip, but the physical pain did not compare to the ache in her heart.
She knew so little about him.
She didn’t even know who were in his family.
If it hadn’t been for the chance encounter today, she wouldn’t have known that he actually had a brother.
“A half-brother from the same father, is that considered a biological brother?” Upon hearing, Dan Hanjie chuckled coldly, a shadow of hatred visible in his eyes.
What did he mean by that?
Qin Youxuan blinked in surprise, a revelation flashed through her mind, “So, Dan Hanxi’s mother is…”
