Chapter 698: Chapter 698: Always Looking Troubled
Qin Youxuan had not been to GW for half a month.
After comparing all her class schedules, she realized that this month, other than having to attend Professor Hubble’s research group twice, she didn’t have to leave the house at all.
The research project was in its early stages, and most of the time was spent individually gathering information and making initial case analyses.
At this stage, there wasn’t much need for group discussions.
Apart from necessary meetings, Qin Youxuan spent most of her time resting.
She didn’t wallow in self-pity, nor did she dive headlong into researching her subject matter, instead, she was constantly adjusting her daily routines.
Early to bed, early to rise. Every day when she woke up, she would run a lap around the yard with Da Bai.
After working up a good sweat, she would take a shower before heading downstairs for breakfast.
“Young Miss, here is the information you requested. It contains amendments to international human rights laws over the past three years,” the Butler quickly entered and placed a thick stack of documents on the table.
“Is everything in here?” Qin Youxuan put down her glass of water and excitedly reached for the documents.
After a quick flip through to confirm it was the information she wanted, the corners of her mouth curled up into a smile.
“Finally, the Young Miss has smiled.”
Upon hearing this, the smile on Qin Youxuan’s face froze and she looked at the butler quizzically.
The butler awkwardly scratched his head, “Pardon me for speaking out of line. It’s just that you’ve been smiling less these days, and whenever Mr. Jie leaves the villa, you always seem to be weighed down.”
“…Is it that obvious?” Qin Youxuan asked, touching her cheek and her eyes flickered.
She thought she had disguised it well, but apparently, it was quite noticeable.
“It’s not so apparent when Mr. Jie is around, but the moment he leaves, you hardly ever smile. But, it’s nothing. I spoke out of turn.”
Upon seeing the change on Qin Youxuan’s face, the butler quickly clapped his own mouth, bowed, and retreated.
Qin Youxuan let out a deep breath and leaned against the sofa.
She placed her hand over her belly.
Ever since she found out that she had a cold constitution and could possibly never bear children, she found it hard to pretend that nothing had happened.
She couldn’t possibly figure out what Dan Hanjie was thinking when he told her to stop the medication after one course of treatment.
Was he not concerned about having children or had he also given up…
Qin Youxuan tried to appear calm and positive.
She continued taking her medication, and though she didn’t think much of Diwu Zexuan the person, she did trust his medical skills.
If Diwu Zexuan said it was curable, she should believe that it definitely was curable.
The sound of footsteps by the door made Qin Youxuan tense up and she quickly turned around.
Upon seeing Ning Yanan, soaking wet, entering, she quickly got up from the sofa.
“Yaya, what happened to you?”
It wasn’t raining outside, why was she completely drenched…
“I’m fine. I fell into the river while chasing down a story. I’m heading to my room to change clothes.” Ning Yanan responded listlessly and headed to the guest room.
Watching her dejected figure, Qin Youxuan furrowed her eyebrows.
Ning Yanan had been in the United States for half a month, but rather than saying she lived here, it seemed more like she was living on the streets.
Qin Youxuan hardly saw her. She would leave in the morning and might not even return at night.
When asked, she was always out chasing news, so consumed that she wouldn’t come home or get proper sleep.
In just half a month, she had lost weight and looked completely worn out.
