Dan Hanjie held up the long dress he had selected with one hand, and raised an eyebrow at Qin Youxuan’s instantly shadowed face, “Don’t you like it?”
“Are you sure you want me to accompany you to dinner instead of a funeral?”
If she really wore that dress out, she would just look like a widow…
He was not choosing clothes for her at all. He was intentionally getting back at her.
Qin Youxuan stepped forward, paid no attention to the dress in his hand, her eyes swept across the rack, and pulled out another knee-length dress.
Although it wasn’t a long dress, the hem was only a few centimeters from the knee, and the pleated design of the hem looked rather fluffy, not too overtly sexy.
Plus, the neckline had a standard petal design, and the beige color made it look fairly innocent and bright.
“How about this one?”
Just as Qin Youxuan asked, she had already walked into the changing room.
By the time she came out in the new dress, Dan Hanjie was already speechless in objection.
The delicate dress made her fragile skin seem as if it could squeeze out water.
Her charming little face was a few shades brighter, cherry-red lips, overwhelming beauty.
“Does it look good?” Qin Youxuan hopped over to him in playful fashion, spinning right around and then left, teasing the man who was seemingly lost in admiration.
Without waiting for his reply, she had already read his answer from his gaze.
“You’d look even better without it,” Dan Hanjie, foreseeing the mischief in her eyes, suddenly blurted out.
Qin Youxuan almost stumbled to the ground.
She looked at him in disbelief.
What did he just say?
“What, didn’t hear it?” Dan Hanjie stretched out his hand to encircle her waist, and led her into his embrace, speaking slowly into her ear, “When you have nothing on, you look the best.”
Warm breath fanned her ear, setting Qin Youxuan’s cheeks blazing with embarrassment.
She buried her head in his chest, nipping him in annoyance.
Such a dirty-minded man!
Dan Hanjie winced in pain, furrowing his brows slightly. But, he simply put his hand on her head and fondly tousled her hair.
“Mr. Jie, we’re here.”
The vehicle steadily pulled to a stop in front of a luxurious Western restaurant.
“Is this the same place where I first met Ye Zhanxing?” Qin Youxuan looked out the car window with a blink of confusion.
“The Ye Family owns a chain of restaurants. The one you saw near GW last time is one their branches; this one is another.” Dan Hanjie gripped her fingers tight and helped her out of the car.
As they entered the restaurant, a waiter promptly welcomed them.
“Mr. Jie, this way, please.”
“I’ve only met Ye Zhanxing once. Why does he want to meet me?” As they followed the waiter through the lobby and approached a private room at the end, Qin Youxuan asked out of the blue.
She had been contemplating throughout the journey but couldn’t figure out why Ye Zhanxing insisted that Dan Hanjie bring her along to the meeting.
From their last encounter, she could tell that Ye Zhanxing didn’t like her very much. His gaze wasn’t friendly, so it couldn’t be lust.
Could he be trying to avenge Ye Mingmei by inviting her here to embarrass her?
Qin Youxuan bit her lip, her brows knitted together.
They were here to seek help; in case Ye Zhanxing really was difficult with her, should she endure or not?
“I don’t want you to make any concessions for my sake,” Dan Hanjie suddenly touched the top of her head, each word sounding firm.
Qin Youxuan looked up at him.
She didn’t say anything, yet he figured it all out.
