His eyes flickered slightly before he continued upstairs.
As dawn was breaking, Qin Youxuan found herself unable to sleep.
Tossing and turning, she eventually sat up in bed.
Turning her head, she looked at the spot next to her.
Dan Hanjie was already gone.
So early, he went to the corporation?
Qin Youxuan bit her lip, climbed out of bed, changed out of her pajamas, gathered her long hair, and casually tied it into a ponytail before heading downstairs.
“Young Madam, why are you up so early today?” The butler saw Qin Youxuan coming down the stairs, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
“Did Dan Hanjie go out? Did he say where he was going?” Qin Youxuan walked into the kitchen, poured herself a glass of water, and then returned to the living room.
She had just sat down on the sofa when she looked up and asked.
“Mr. Jie just received a phone call and left. He didn’t disclose his itinerary, but he ordered the staff to prepare Young Madam’s medicine,” the butler replied respectfully.
He was out but still remembered her medicine.
“Is there any big event happening today?” Qin Youxuan thought for a moment before asking.
“Are you referring to anything in particular, Young Madam?” The butler questioned her, puzzled.
“Never mind, no news is good news. What am I thinking about…” Qin Youxuan patted her own forehead, placed the water cup down, and turned to go upstairs, “Call me when the medicine is ready.”
Qin Youxuan retreated to her room, burrowed back into bed to catch up on sleep.
She didn’t know how long she’d been asleep before someone woke her up.
She slowly opened her eyes, bewildered, and took several seconds to regain her senses upon seeing the magnified handsome face in front of her.
“Haven’t slept enough? It’s time for your medicine. Finish it first before you continue sleeping,” Dan Hanjie said as he picked her up and carried her straight to the bathroom. After helping her with her washing up, he carried her back to the room.
“I can do it myself.” Qin Youxuan murmured softly, nestled in his arms.
With him around, he treated her as though she were incapacitated.
She certainly wasn’t that fragile, yet he was spoiling her rotten.
“By the way, weren’t you headed to the corporation? How did you come back so soon?” Qin Youxuan took the medicine bowl, sipping the medicinal liquid while she scrutinized his expression.
“Just some minor issues,” Dan Hanjie answered nonchalantly.
After she finished the medicine, he effortlessly took the empty bowl from her hand and placed it aside.
He poured her a glass of water.
As Qin Youxuan lowered her head to drink water, she caught sight of the gleaming cat’s eye stone around her neck, blurted out her question in a surprised tone,
“Where did you go last night during the auction?”
“Also, Dan Hanxi obviously wanted to compete with you for this cat’s eye stone necklace. Why did she suddenly give up? Did you do something?” Qin Youxuan put the water cup on the bedside table, leaned into his embrace, and asked in a soft voice.
“What is it you want to ask?” Dan Hanjie’s body tensed slightly as he looked down at her.
Qin Youxuan shook her head, “It’s nothing, I just find it strange. But the weirdest thing was Ye Mingmei not kicking me when I was down; instead, she actually saved me. Last night was indeed bizarre.”
