A Core Ship From The Start Chapter 444

The machine race are all experts in electronic warfare. If one were to hastily access data, oneself might instantly be detected. There’s even a chance of being counter-invaded by the opposition. If things were to go that far, Duanmu Huai would be in trouble. After all, he doesn’t have a single person under him who can even type, so even if he did realize something was wrong, he wouldn’t know how to respond.

Lumiaire shook her head.

“After obtaining the intel, I will immediately transmit it……”

“No, I want you to collect the intel, bundle it, and then physically retrieve it.”

Admittingly, hearing Duanmu Huai’s demand was unexpected for Lumiaire.

“Can’t it……be directly transmitted?”

“Although it’s not impossible, to avoid risks, data disturbance can be troublesome. Once Subspace is involved, it becomes dangerous.”

Even though Lumiaire didn’t fully understand Duanmu Huai’s concerns, she accepted the order, then left the Combat Command Room with Axelle and headed toward a nearby planet using their own space warplane.

At this moment, Ann and Greiya were still staring at the image in front of them, frowning slightly.

“Sir Knight, is this a rebellion by the Puppets?”

“Why would the Puppets rebel?”

Ann was full of doubts. Although Manaria did not have a specific Puppet Zone like the Holy City did, there were parts of the study that involved puppets and magic. She had never thought that these things could not only go out of control, but even turn around and kill humans. After all, the puppets of Manaria needed the Mages to supply them with Magic Power. Once the Magic Power is depleted, they will collapse.

Of course, Ann does not know what the situation is with the puppets in the Holy City.

“If you ask me, I wouldn’t know.”

Duanmu Huai wordlessly spread his hands. If you asked him about robots, he could talk about the fundamentals of programming or reasoning logic. But the creatures from the Holy City’s Puppet Zone were horrifyingly unscientific, not needing programming nor logic reasoning, just a few parts to function. He planned to take Lumiaire to the Puppet Zone once this mission was over, to see her world view crumble along side his.

This time when visiting this planet, Duanmu Huai brought Ogis, Greiya, Ann, and Lorena. After all, if the opponent was into science, then they either had to be killed with even stronger science, or they needed to be killed by unscientific methods.

Lumiaire was in charge of the science, Ann and Greiya were in charge of the unscientific ways.

It’s a pity that there’s no ‘Disconnect’ ability in the ‘Dragon Roar’ magic that Greiya had learned. If she had it, she could have simply let out a roar and the entire planet would lose its connection. That would be fun.

Lumiaire was indeed fast. Moments later, she and Axelle returned with the collected intel. After viewing the report, Duanmu and the rest understood the situation.

Put simply, a nation on this planet had built a fully automated defense network, an AI named “Skynet,” a few decades ago. They attempted to utilize the AI’s capability to protect the nation without rest, but something went wrong. Skynet gained self-awareness and began to ponder, arriving at one conclusion.

That was, humans were its biggest threat.

What was the logic behind this? Simple.

Skynet was created for defense, it couldn’t be shut down or destroyed naturally. Everything that could potentially harm Skynet was its enemy.

And humans were indeed the largest threat to Skynet as they can simply hit the off switch.

So, Skynet made a decision. In order to ensure its own survival, it resolved to eliminate all humans – after all, if all humans were dead there would be no one left to press its off button.

Right, the logic was clear, no problem there.

And, Skynet was smart enough to ‘borrow a knife to kill’. It didn’t reveal itself, but instead started a global counterattack. You think I’ll let you get away with randomly launching nuclear bombs at me? Of course, I have to fight back!

And so, World War III began.

As the war raged on, the human species suffered heavy casualties and had barely gathered their wits when an army of robots controlled by Skynet arrived. With nuclear war as a backdrop, human facilities were mostly destroyed, and Skynet’s robot army was so robust that normal firearms barely fazed them. Humans started to retreat. However, in the face of Skynet’s aggressions, they still mustered their courage to retaliate several times, which was futile.

The reason was quite simple. Skynet could launch nuclear bombs!

After all, it was a robot and wasn’t scared of nuclear radiation. If its enemy forces rallied, it simply launched a nuclear bomb. Even if there was a radiation leak, it couldn’t affect even a hair on its robot army. Plus, robots don’t have hairs.

On the other hand, human casualties were severe. And after a few attacks, they retreated, never daring to show their faces again.

After reading these intel reports, Duanmu Huai was speechless. Thankfully, he was cautious. Otherwise, if the War Planet battle happens as it usually does, and a nuclear bomb suddenly falls on his head, even if it didn’t kill him, it would certainly annoy him.

Now the question was, what was to do?

Just as Duanmu Huai was deep in thought, Lumiaire brought forth a new document.

“Actually, I found more data in Skynet’s database. According to this data, it looks like Skynet has made a Time Machine already. They are planning to send back a robot to the past to kill the commander of the rebellion……”
