Side Story: Hang in there, Doggie!
Rir was glaring at and observing [Huge Claw Wolf] brought by Yuki.
This monster was summoned by the enemy Senate President, but was able to survive and join Yuki’s side because it was able to determine in advance that it would never be a match for Yuki.
The Huge Claw Wolf was unable to move at all and was drenched in cold sweat as Rir gazed at it silently.
The difference in the magnitude of their presence was too great.
Not so long ago, when the wolf fought with many other monsters of the same rank to show its willingness to fight alongside Yuki, it considered that event a proper fight. However, the wolf could now tell that that fight was a mere child’s play for someone like Yuki.
The sense of intimidation radiating from the being in front of it made the wolf cower, and its instincts told it to flee from here.
However, it could easily imagine that if it did try to escape, it would be shredded to pieces and die, so it was desperately trying to suppress its instincts by gathering all its reasons.
However, it was precisely because the wolf was able to make such decisions that it was able to survive even after meeting Yuki as an enemy.
Rir was not attempting to intimidate the wolf, he was simply assessing how strong the wolf in front of him was.
He could understand that the wolf in front of him was afraid of him, but he was not going to ease the intimidation.
If it runs away at this level, it would never be able to live with him in the first place.
Well, that being said, as far as this wolf was concerned, Rir was already willing to take care of it for a while.
Just a little while ago, Rir received a message from Yuki, saying, “Please take care of this wolf at our place! Its fighting skills are not good for its level, but if we mix it with the army of monsters under your command, I’m sure it can make a reasonable life here.”
This wolf was certainly weak, but Yuki told Rir that it did its best to help him. Yuki and Enne also added that, “It’s a cute child, so you should take care of it.”
And, in Rir’s opinion, that was more than enough reason to accept this child.
The wolf did not hear about Rir, but it knew before they even fought that it was no match for him, and was intelligent enough to show a posture of respectful obedience.
And to show that its attitude of reverence was genuine, it even had the courage to challenge six opponents of the same rank as itself to a decisive battle.
Even though Yuki and Enne were present at that time, the wolf was thinking that if it could help even a little, it had a good chance to be accepted and would be able to live without any problems.
And so, after finishing some observations, Rir started to talk about how to live in this forest.
First, the basic premise was that it must not attack humans proactively. If humans attacked it, it may intercept them, but if they were not hostile, let them go.
In particular, if you see juvenile humans, report it immediately.
This, of course, was with Yuki’s family in mind.
Illuna and the others have been strongly advised to always have Yuki, Lefi or Nell accompany them when they go out into the Demon Forest, so they were very strict about it.
However, to be extra safe, Rir also made the monsters under him understand that a part of their Master’s family was part of the humanoid races.
Anyone who fails to comply with guidelines would be regarded as an enemy and would be eliminated immediately.
Unlike humans, monsters almost always followed the words of their superiors, and so far, not a single one of their subordinates had to be eliminated by Rir and the others.
This was an indication of the strong influence of the absolute authority of Rir.
When Yuki or his family was not around, Rir would usually display his nobility as a King of Monsters, but the moment Yuki got involved, his hardship as a middle-manager would always appear.
