As the sharp tip of the Horned Rabbit was pointed at her, Setsu flinched in fear for a moment, but there was no way for her to stop now.
So, she went ahead and charged forward.
“Kuu — Gah!!” (Setsu)
It was caused by her inherent instincts possessing Fenrir’s blood.
Before Setsu could think, her instincts seemed to react, and her body moved of its own accord.
Just before the attack, she took a step to feint, and before the Horned Rabbit could react, she bit into the side.
Her fangs easily pierced the fur and dug into the flesh of the rabbit’s neck.
The Horned Rabbit, having been pierced in its vital spot, jumped in shock, then went limp and motionless after a while, and the light went out of its eyes.
Rir also licked her blood-stained body, as if to congratulate her daughter for her first successful hunt.
Orochi, Yata, Byaku, and Seimi, who had accompanied her and were subtly wary of their surroundings, gathered and praised Setsu.
Setsu was so happy that she was showing off her prey to everyone, wagging her tail. She asked Rir, “But what should we do with this prey?”
Rir replied, “This is the first life you have ever taken. So you should be grateful and eat it.”
Hearing this, Setsu happily started to eat the Horned Rabbit… and muttered.
Setsu implied that, “It’s not tasty.”
Rir chuckled at her honest opinion.
Setsu usually ate the meat of prey that lived in the Demon Forest, which was rich in magic power. Or the delicious seasoned meat that Yuki brought.
Therefore, the raw meat, which had weak magic power and had not been drained of blood, was no longer tasty at all.
Rir honestly understood her feelings, so he didn’t get angry at his daughter for being selfish, but implied that, “I have seasonings. If you grill it with that, it will surely be delicious,” and started a bonfire for her daughter.
Living with Yuki and the others, Rir had become quite dexterous.
He could easily start a fire, barbecue without Yuki’s help, and was therefore able to do simple cooking.
Using the authority of the dungeon function given to him by Yuki, Rir created seasonings for the Horned Rabbit meat that Setsu placed down, then Rir skillfully used his mouth and front paws to peel the skin, season it, and use magic to light the fire and start grilling it.
With Yuki’s permission, Rir had the second-strongest authority in the dungeon after Yuki.
Lefi and the other adults also had simple authority, but Rir understood the dungeon more deeply than them, comparable to a second Demon Lord, so to speak, he had the power to run the dungeon even without Yuki.
That said, Rir would never mess with the dungeon without the permission of Yuki, so he only used it to create some kind of item from the DP catalog at times .
When Rir said it was cooked, Setsu timidly put her mouth to the Horned Rabbit meat… and began to gobble it down.
While Rir was smiling wryly at the thought that they probably wouldn’t be able to live in the wild any longer, Setsu had finished eating in the blink of an eye.
It must have been because Setsu was pleased to have hunted and eaten her first prey, as she implied that, “I want to hunt more!”, and Rir nodded.
He realized that his daughter was in high spirits and that it might be a little dangerous to let her go on another hunt , but he didn’t warn her.
After all, if she did get hurt, it would be an important lesson for her. Of course, they wouldn’t let her die.
There were some things you couldn’t understand unless you experienced them. Or rather, experiencing pain was better than a hundred pieces of knowledge.
On the other hand, if her next hunt was successful, Rir would teach her further based on her experience of the successful first hunt. That would give her confidence and lead to another successful hunt.
