The banging on the door persisted, clearly showing that Jun was coming with a temper.
Shi Su couldn’t figure out whether she found out something or if something else happened, but coming upstairs to knock on the door without calling first suggested it might be the former.
"Shi Su, hurry up and open the door!"
Hearing the noise outside, which was almost as if the door was about to be smashed, Shi Su glanced at the man sitting steadily at the bedside and said with annoyance, "Can you hide for a bit?"
Jing Jihan looked at her, "A relative from your daughter’s father’s side?"
"No, it’s my boss." Shi Su couldn’t be bothered to explain, so she hurried over to get him up, "Just cooperate a bit. I’ve helped you out a lot now; you can’t backstab me, right? If my boss finds a man at my place, she’ll probably tear me apart!"
"Does your boss need to manage your personal life?" Jing Jihan’s face was cool because of the aggressive attitude outside. He didn’t think Shi Su seemed like a helpless little damsel who could be bullied by her company or boss.
"Oh, just hide for now!" Shi Su forcefully dragged him up. The house was only so big, with nowhere to hide, so she simply pulled him into the bathroom, opened the frosted glass door used for separating wet and dry areas, pushed him inside, closed the door quickly, and, accompanied by the door-banging outside, rushed to open the door.
The moment she opened the door, she didn’t even have time to speak before Jun, with a cold face, pushed her out of the way and barged in, throwing down her handbag and rolling up her sleeves. "Taking so long to open the door, I have to see where you hid the pretty boy!"
Shi Su: "..."
Seeing that Jun was genuinely suspicious, Shi Su figured trying to stop her would only raise more suspicion, so she stood by the door and watched her, "What did you just say? What are you looking for?"
Jun first glanced around each room roughly, then seeing Shi Su still standing by the door, glared at her and asked, "Didn’t you just go buy a lot of stuff for men? You only have Mianmian and yourself at home, no men, so why did you buy those things?"
Still standing by the door, Shi Su met Jun’s gaze, eyes seemingly capable of shooting X-rays, "Before, I asked Mrs. Qin to help take care of Mianmian. Doesn’t she have a son who’s about to come to Jiang City to study? Before he finds a place to settle, he’ll need to stay here for a few days. Mrs. Qin feels too embarrassed to trouble me and refuses to stay, so I bought her son’s necessities in advance to encourage her to bring him, saving the hassle of staying elsewhere."
Luckily, Shi Su’s housekeeper really did have a son of that age.
Jun’s eyes shifted as she glanced into the master bedroom, noticing the newly bought items placed beside the bed, and the loungewear just about to be hung up, the tag still on, evidently not tried on yet. Her expression finally eased a bit.
Shi Su went over, just about to speak when Jun suddenly walked into the master bedroom and asked expressionlessly, "Where’s the little white bear on the bed?"
"It’s in Mianmian’s room. She’s been wanting to hold it when she sleeps lately."
Jun gave her a sidelong glance, "I saw two pillows on Mianmian’s little bed just now. Didn’t you already let her sleep alone long ago?"
"A few days ago, she accidentally changed the channel while watching TV and saw a horror movie. She’s been too scared to sleep at night, so I’ve been sleeping with her these few days..."
Jun snorted, "Yeah, right. You’ve been raising Mianmian on your own all these years, and I’ve frequently come to see her here. Don’t think I don’t know what your home is usually like."
