Chapter 3: A White Space
This time, he had been so focused on the mushrooms at his feet that he walked straight into a tree.
He bumped his head, tripped, and scraped his knees, acting just like a child. Yet Qiong Xing himself paid no attention to the injuries at all, he’s too busy enjoying all the new things he was seeing for the first time.
For his guardians, however, it was neither fun nor amusing in the slightest.
"That’s just how he is, you know. Being a former police officer plays a part, but it’s really his personality. Well, of course, his age also means he’s calmer than most of people."
"Indeed. Even when he was suddenly brought here because of you, he still stay calm. Even when he learned that he could never return to his original world because of you, he didn’t get angry. It felt like something was muttered at the end, but that was probably just his imagination.

Besides, if he pointed it out, it felt like it would lead to another long, long lecture, so he said nothing.

As they watched Qiong Xing continue to happily collect things while pushing deeper and deeper into the forest, the memories of the moment he arrived in this world came back to them.
Without saying a word, the two of them shared a bitter, helpless smile.

When he opened his eyes, a white ceiling immediately came into view.
"...Huh?"
He quickly realized that this was not his own room, but where was he?
Still confused, he moved his eyes around and saw that not only the ceiling, but the walls and the floor were all pure white.
No, saying everything was white was not quite right.
He knew there was a floor because he had been lying on it, but for a room, there should have been walls.
Instead, there were no clear walls at all and it felt like a white space that stretched on endlessly.
At first, he thought it might be a hospital, but it had nothing you would expect in a hospital room. And there was no way they would place a patient like Qiong Xing directly on the floor.
He wanted to ask someone what was going on, but there was no one around.
"...Is this what people call heaven?"
The loud human voices he had heard just moments ago were gone and the truck that had been rushing toward him was nowhere to be seen.
When he tried to sitting up, he found no injuries anywhere on his body. He lightly rotated his arms, and instead of pain, he felt his body was unbelievably light.
"Excuse me! Is anyone here?! ...Wha—?!"
Even though he thought it was pointless, he raised his voice to see if anyone was there.
