“No,” Lin Wan replied to Su Xiaorong. Her back had been turned towards her friend, but she turned around now.
“Could we chat for a bit?” Su Xiaorong asked, hoping to keep her friend company and offer comfort in her unhappiness.

“Xiaorong, you go to work first,” Lin Wan told Su Xiaorong.
“Okay.” Su Xiaorong refrained from pressing her further and walked to the parking area adjacent to the apartment.
After summoning her courage, Lin Wan proceeded toward Xiao Yichen’s car.
Xiao Yichen sat in the car with his eyes closed, appearing to be in a light slumber, so he didn’t notice Lin Wan’s approach.
Only when he heard the faint tapping on the car window, did Xiao Yichen stir, opening his eyes and then turning his head.
When he saw Lin Wan, his grogginess evaporated. Almost instinctively, he exited the car, strode around to the other side, and without uttering a word, he extended his arm to clasp the little lady and pull her into his embrace.
Xiao Yichen’s whole body quivered as he hugged her.
He couldn’t pinpoint when he had shut his eyes but hadn’t drifted off to sleep. Throughout the night, he had been immersed in her thoughts.
Lin Wan detected a familiar aroma, and she could distinctly sense his trembling body.
“Wan’er,” Xiao Yichen whispered. His voice was low and tinged with sorrow.
Every minute felt interminably long, torturous, and heart-wrenching without her presence.
“Why haven’t you gone back?” Lin Wan inquired, her tone still detached.
“I don’t want to go home without you,” Xiao Yichen responded.
Lin Wan’s heart quivered intensely. She suppressed the rapid beating of her heart and stated, “Go back and get some rest for a while. I’ll go to work.”
She tried to extricate herself from his grasp, but Xiao Yichen refused to let go.
“Get off me,” Lin Wan pleaded. She glanced around to remind Xiao Yichen that it wasn’t an appropriate time for such an intimate scene since many people were coming and going to work.
“No,” Xiao Yichen firmly held Lin Wan’s shoulders with both hands and distanced himself slightly to meet her gaze, then he questioned, “What happened to the scar?”
Faced with his query, Lin Wan couldn’t help but feel exasperated and wanted to burst into laughter.
He had noticed it last night, thinking that he, the astute Xiao Yichen, could deduce what had transpired. Yet, it seemed she had overestimated him.
“You don’t know?” Lin Wan asked, a faint smile adorning her lips.
The words of Lin Wan confused Xiao Yichen, who scowled.
After a moment of contemplation, he suddenly had a realization.. He gazed intently into Lin Wan and asked, “Was it Yanxi?”
