The Xiao Family
When Lin Wan referred to Xiao Yaling as her sister, Xiao Yaling took two steps forward and swung her hand with unwillingness in her heart.
With a sharp sound, Lin Wan lost her balance and staggered back, her disheveled hair covering half of her face.
“Lin Wan, have you no shame?” Xiao Yaling scolded in front of the two elders. “It was bad enough that you seduced my son in the past, but now you’re pursuing my brother. How shameless can you be?”
Xiao Yaling had never held any affection for Lin Wan. She had reluctantly accepted her son’s engagement to Lin Wan because of his pleas. Later, her son became engaged to Qingqing instead, which made her delighted.
Just as Xiao Yaling was about to continue her tirade, Xiao Yichen suddenly shouted, “Xiao Yaling…”
He addressed her by name, causing fear to ripple through everyone present on the first floor, even the nanny.
Xiao Yaling was taken aback as she took a step back, swallowing the words she had intended to utter.
She didn’t dare to provoke her younger brother.
Xiao Yichen redirected his gaze away from Xiao Yaling and focused on the woman beside him.
“Slap her back,” he ordered, releasing his grip on her wrist.
His sister had slapped his wife, and that was intolerable.
“…,” Lin Wan looked at Xiao Yichen in surprise. She understood his intention from his eyes and then turned her attention to Xiao Yaling.
Xiao Yaling hadn’t expected her brother to react this way. Although she wasn’t his biological sister like Xiao Ruiling, she was still his elder sister!
“Yi, Yichen, I…” Xiao Yaling’s legs weakened. She knew her brother’s temper all too well. There was nothing he wouldn’t do.
Xiao Yichen disregarded Xiao Yaling and, observing that Lin Wan hadn’t retaliated, he angrily remarked, “What? Do you want me to teach you?”
Despite her face being obscured by her hair, her swollen face was clearly visible. Didn’t it hurt?
“I…” Lin Wan looked at Xiao Yichen, unsure of what to say.
She couldn’t bring herself to strike Xiao Yaling in front of so many people…
Just as Lin Wan was grappling with her dilemma, another voice broke through the shock of the onlookers.
Xiao Yaling slapped herself.
Her hands tingled, her face reddened, and the pain intensified. Yet, Xiao Yaling couldn’t concern herself with these sensations too much. She gazed at her brother, who was standing not far away, and said, “Y-Yichen, do you think this is sufficient?”
Allowing Lin Wan to strike him was nothing short of humiliation. It would be better to be straightforward.
Lin Wan regarded Xiao Yaling with pity.
If he had known it would come to this, why did he initiate it in the first place?
“I don’t think so. Anything else?” Xiao Yichen looked at Xiao Yaling and remarked.
Xiao Yaling was astute. After contemplating for a moment, she directed her attention to Lin Wan and spoke respectfully, “Lin Wan, I apologize. I acted impulsively earlier. I was wrong. I hope you can forgive me.”
“…,” Lin Wan couldn’t react immediately.
When she regained her composure, she worried that Xiao Yichen might instruct Xiao Yaling to do something else. Hastily, she replied, “Alright, I forgive you.”
A gentle smile spread across Xiao Yaling’s face. The matter seemed to have reached its conclusion.
However, her animosity towards Lin Wan had reached its peak.
Lin Wan, just you wait. I will repay everything I suffered today with twice the vengeance in the future. Furthermore, I will make you understand that the Xiao family… will never tolerate you!
