Chapter 18: Fate

The energy flowing in the demon world was unimaginable, it might be the reason an average Demon is stronger than an average human.
Xoraxys’ attendants, Xanereth and Lady Lyriath attended to him as he sat on his throne whereas I was treated as some insignificant bug.
"What is it?" His general Voriath asked.
"Seeing as my partner ignores me, I should take my leave." I replied my voice and expression serious.
Voriath’s aura flared up. He was strong but not on my level, he was far weaker than I had expected.
"Be calm." Xoraxys’ voice calmed the situation. "Leave us. All of you."
The others left us to discuss our plans.
Voriath stopped beside me and gave me a death stare.
"If you want we can go at it right now." I said to him and then turned to face him with a death stare of my own.
"But let me warn you now, you won’t win."
Voriath grunted and then stormed out of Xoraxys’ palace.
"Now, the Lords Of Hell have given us an assignment." Xoraxys began. "The complete destruction of Fragment 882."
"As you know, the fragment is being protected by the human Asher Blackwood." I replied him.
"We should be able to make short work of him. His victory against Voriath was unprecedented but Xanereth and Lyriath are still here so we attack him with the three of them and see how he fares."
"Whatever you say. But still, the futures I see are now 50/50." I revealed to him.
His eyes widened. "What do you mean 50/50?"
"When we were about to start this mission, I peaked into the future but I saw no one in which we won."
He smiled. "So now the future has changed."
"Yes. Our alliance with the Lords have made the scales balanced." I replied with emphasis.
"Good, but still we shouldn’t underestimate him. A human who is able to destroy multiple fragments by himself is no joke at all." Xoraxys warned.
"Hmm. Does that mean I’m no joke as well?" I asked him.
"You were an anomaly from the beginning. The moment you were born, the energy that emanated from you was so powerful that you being around the other humans was harmful for them." He replied.
"That was then, now I’m older and I can control that power."
"Yes you can. But still Asher Blackwood has power that even you could not contend with. You said that you couldn’t see a future where we won when it was just the two of us but now you could see us winning even by a 50% chance."
"Yes and the 50% chance is if Samiel doesn’t participate. There were never any futures where he participated at all."
Xoraxys’ eyes widened, he was immensely shocked at my revelation.
"He didn’t participate?"
"No he didn’t, in every future he deemed it as beneath him."
"That means if we can get him to participate then we have a higher chance of winning." Xoraxys declared.
"Yes, if we can get him to." I replied downcast. Then I raised my head and faced him. "What do you guys see from up here?"
"Everything that exists below us." He replied. "This realm exists as a dimensionally transcendental plane."
"That much is common knowledge to all who have any relation to the devils, gods or demons."
Xoraxys smiled and then turned his back to me.
"We exist in a non-corporeal world as you can see and yet there’s a human who could harm us." Xoraxys raged.
"Voriath was killed by a human, if it wasn’t for the rules governing demons which makes them always resurrect here he would be long gone."
I turned in the chair where I sat. The furniture wasn’t comfortable but Voriath’s words made me feel even more uncomfortable.
"The gods treat all of us like garbage and seeing as a fragment is about to be destroyed they don’t want to interfere." Xoraxys said.
"It seems so, even though they can stop all this at the blink of an eye they choose to do nothing."
Images flashed through my mind as I recalled what happened to me as a child.
The destruction of Fragment 616 was as a result of my uncontrollable energy.
The gods did nothing but watch and immediately after the fragment was gone, they recreated it anew and made life restart there from the very beginning.
"You shouldn’t think about that too much." Xoraxys said, his voice calm and his face showing no sign of emotion.
"It’s rude to read people’s minds you know." I replied.
"You were awfully quiet so I decided to take a little peak and I saw something that happens rarely." Xoraxys smiled. "A little boy’s uncontrolled energy destroying an entire fragment."
"That was my fault. My family. The innocent people. All of them dead."
"And your energy completely destroyed all parallels for that fragment which was very impressive for a human."
"Stop commending my bad deed. The guilt I feel every single day for that is immense and you rubbing it in is just plain stupid."
He could hear the edge in my voice and then shook his head pitifully.
"I won’t pry but still that amount of power still lies dormant within you right now." Xoraxys said and then turned to me. "You’re stronger than Voriath and we all know that."
"So?"
"Embrace your urges. In your little human lives, it’s either kill or be killed. Obey that law."
I threw a punch which I intentionally aimed to miss his head. The space behind his head broke and a portal opened.
He didn’t even flinch. He seemed unfazed by my strength.
"You did that with pure strength alone I know. But I’ve seen better."
I walked past him and towards the portal as I was about to make my way back to the human world and back home as well.
"I’ll be back." I said as I walked in and before the portal closed, I turned to him. "Never speak of this again."
