The Foolish Taoist, however, continued to run forward, screaming as he ran, "Don’t catch me, don’t catch me."
Several Wolf Soldiers, who were searching through the goods, were startled by the noise. Seeing a human, they immediately pounced towards him.
Xiao Jie, filled with anticipation, watched the Wolf Soldiers rush towards the Taoist, thinking to himself that this fellow must be a hidden expert. No matter how much he had pretended before, now he would have to see how he could continue his act.
Perhaps he would use a Big Move to take down everyone in one fell swoop, proving his own conjecture, and then he could go up and ask to be taught.
Thinking to himself, should he rush up and pretend to protect the Taoist? Maybe this was some kind of test?

Firing all the arrows in his quiver wouldn’t kill many, and Xiao Jie had no illusions of being able to kite these Wolf Demons to death. Leading the wolf pack for a few miles, he guessed that I Want to Be Immortal must be safe by now. Xiao Jie suddenly accelerated, quickly pulling away.
The Wolf Essence Captain, howling angrily, could do nothing but watch helplessly as Xiao Jie got away.
Only when Xiao Jie could no longer see any Wolf Demons behind him did he slow down and come to a stop.
