The thoughts were the first thing he could register in his mind. But then, he felt an access to something open up within him. He acted. His eyebrows flickered, and then, he felt the blurry lines.
He could see a dimming white, flickering silvery lights, and bizarre runes dancing in what seemed like a covering?
No... it was a ceiling.
But then, he heard them.
"Seems like he's awake?"
"Grand Papa test subject?"
"Keep your voice down, Eliana."
'Voices. Those are voices…'
The thoughts were registered in him, and soon enough, he began to see the blurry faces that hung around his line of sight, as the blurriness began destabilizing.
And after the world seemed to go round and round, it finally all slowed down. And with one final push, he fully opened his eyes. The world before him came into full view.
Above him was a ceiling covered in silvery runic lines that seemed to provide illumination to where he was, giving him access to see what covered half of his vision.
One shiny black complexion, with long dark hair trailing down her face—some bits of silvery runic lines over the side of her ears and down her neck, like some sort of tattoo—oddly familiar to the lines in the ceiling above.
And the other was a snow-white complexion, with long snow-white hair trailing down to some part of his face. The same silvery runic lines as the first also ran around the side of her ear and down her neck.
Unconsciously, his body tightened up reflexively.
But as he looked into those silvery white eyes, flickering with intelligence and such pure curiosity, he felt his rapidly beating heart calm down, as he watched the faces move away from his vision.
Right then, he felt something new unlock within him, and then he rose up. Some little mechanical sound rang as he did, but finally, it got him access to the entire room.
Where he was seemed like a large room.
He was sleeping on a long marble-like object, with its surface covered in those silvery runic lines—the source of the warmth he felt.
And by his feet were the two feminine faces he had seen before.
He moved his gaze away from them and looked around the room.
One thing he could easily recognize was a huge globe that hung on a table by the side.
Most pieces of glowing, multi-hued gems sat on another table. Some technological devices ended in screwdrivers, pliers, and other miscellaneous tools.
And some molten silvery particles oozed off the silvery lines which were also edged on the walls.
Everything was a sparkling white with runic silvery lines trailing over it.
But then, he turned to look at his hands.
The mechanical sound rang out as he clenched and unfurled them a couple of times, before he straightened them and focused his gaze on them.
They looked like they were made of… blue glass?
No… it was crystal. But alive. Glowing from the inside like there was lightning trapped within.
Sharp edges, glowing with the same silvery runic lines that were everywhere in the room, and with robotic silver parts in each joint—like some kind of alien tech.
Each finger ended in a sharp, gem-like point. Almost like claws.
The center of the hand was a larger blue crystal, pulsing softly like a heartbeat.
With a thought, it opened and closed.
"So smooth. So fast."
He unconsciously muttered, but then, he felt something absent.
He raised his hands to his throat.
"Speak?" he said once more, but then heard nothing—even as he felt his mouth open and air escape from them.
Somehow, he felt something important had gone missing, even though he had no idea what.
"He seems… dumb?" a whisper rang out as he turned his attention back to the girls and watched them look at him with a bizarre expression.
"Shush it, Elliana!" the words came from the dark-skinned girl as the white one giggled.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" the dark-haired one asked as she held up a single middle finger, and Ryuk watched the other white-haired one scream out.
"Filliana, you dummy! He isn't blind, is he? And that's a middle finger, you bad thing!" she said, slapping the dark-haired girl on the back of her neck as she yelped out loud.
"You!" she screamed, and Ryuk watched her spread her hands toward the other.
His eyes flashed as he watched bizarre silvery runic lines appear in her hands.
Then, a ripple formed in the middle of the air, rippling toward the Eliana—whose eyes flashed as she quickly scurried away from the path of the ripple.
She was so fast, his gaze couldn't keep up.
All he heard in the next instant was a—
A powerful collision with the wall, as some of the runes on the wall flickered, some going dim, while some books fell off the shelves, landing down to the ground.
"Filliana!? No Aetheris attack in the room! That's GrandPapa's law! You broke it first!" she said, raising her hands towards Filliana, seemingly preparing for an assault, but suddenly—
GRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!
A faint reverberation echoed through the room as they all paused before turning to its source—soon finding the silvery door to the room opening up—and then the voice preceded.
"And if it isn't the Silvery Rune Royalty Twins who have been said to have gone missing for some minutes…" the voice resounded as a figure slowly approached, taking gentle steps that bizzarely sent silvery ripples across the room.
He was tall—around 2.5 meters in height—clad in silvery robes that flowed down the ground he walked.
White-skinned, a bit wrinkled yet handsome face, with snow-white hair falling over his broad shoulders, and piercing silvery eyes that held milky circles within them, staring straight at the girls… but then, turned, settling on him.
