Abyss Draconis Chapter 48

"Evening is really closing in fast," Ryuk thought to himself as he looked at the sky, which was darkening. There was no sun anyway, so he couldn’t really rely on that. But he could tell the sky was descending into darkness, and the moonlight and starlight seemed to brighten the atmosphere.

"I guess this is how far I’ll explore," He thought.

He had been thinking of walking around for a few more minutes and checking out the other areas, but with the darkness settling in, he felt it was probably best to stay inside his dorm room rather than walking around alone at night.

The sound of knocking reverberated on the solid door as Ryuk tried the knob of his dorm room, only to find it unwilling to budge.

"Who is that?" a tiny voice called from within, no doubt belonging to Quinn.

"Oh," the voice responded, followed by the door quickly being opened.

Quinn’s head popped out, and he saw Ryuk, who was looking at him with a weird expression.

"Oh, Ryuk, it’s you. I’ve never received a knock on the door before, you know. You placed quite the pressure and fear on me," Quinn said, looking slightly shaken.

Ryuk shrugged as he entered the room, and Quinn quickly locked the door back.

"What’s with the paranoia? Are there cases of kidnapping around?" Ryuk asked, looking at the paranoid Quinn, who was pulling all the locks on the door and tightening them up with a bit of rush.

"No, but better not to find out. Better to be safe than sorry is the word, you know," Quinn replied before jumping onto the upper bed.

Ryuk went to the bathroom, had a cool shower, and got into some casual trousers before moving to the bed.

Immediately, the sound of cracking bones resounded as a satisfied sigh left Ryuk’s lips.

"Oh my God, the bed, it’s as soft as a baby’s butt!" he exclaimed as he sprawled on the bed, his bones cracking pleasantly while he sank into its embrace.

Sleep didn’t come immediately, and Ryuk was given time to allow his thoughts to drift.

He remembered Grade E as vividly as he remembered his uncle’s face, and he couldn’t help but feel a pang in his chest.

’I miss you, Uncle Bob...’ Ryuk thought to himself.

He had succeeded in moving from Grade E and now to the Fallen Genius training base in preparation for entering the Ascension Academy.

It was clear to all that he was working towards his goal of getting revenge for his uncle, and that was the only thing that gave Ryuk some semblance of peace in his heart.

He was growing and gradually advancing towards the goal he had set for himself.

He had used Uncle Jack’s card well, and while he hadn’t made it to the academy directly, he was at least on the path to it.

But somehow, his thoughts couldn’t help but also drift to the events of the day. He could remember how he had been mocked upon his entrance to the place.

He could remember how vividly the hammer had smashed into his face, and Ryuk had even been unable to lift it from the ground.

He couldn’t lift the weapon of a Fallen Genius at all?

That just showed how weak he was compared to them, and he knew well who was responsible for whatever had happened to him.

Slowly, Ryuk raised his hands to his face and touched his nose, which had been slammed by the hammer. Surprisingly, the swelling had reduced completely, and he couldn’t feel the slightest cut or soreness.

[Host can suffer many wounds, but with Host’s special body, even if your hand was severed, Host would be able to easily grow it back with his automatic ability of regeneration!] the system explained, and Ryuk nodded before smiling.

’They can hurt me easily.’

’They can bash my face in.’

’They can send me flying.’

’But no matter how much pain they inflict.’

’No matter how many cuts they give me or how much they injure me,’ Ryuk thought as his lips parted, forming a sadistic and veiled smile.

’I still won’t be scared knowing well about my crazy regeneration that comes from my weird nano physique, and when I show up the next day, I’ll have zero injuries on me at all.’

"That is an advantage only I possess, and an extra ticket which I can to secure myself a position," Ryuk thought to himself as he clenched his fist. But he soon relaxed them before slowly closing his eyes.

Sleep was slowly settling in, and he was losing consciousness.

One more glance above his head, where Quinn was sleeping on the upper bed, and Ryuk gave it a quick look before finally letting himself fall into unconsciousness.

Tomorrow would no doubt be a wild day. He would need as much rest as possible if he were to survive it at all.

"Hey, Ryuk? You up?" the voice suddenly resounded in the room, its source none other than Quinn.

"Ryuk?" he repeated once more, but all he heard was a soft snore ringing from below him.

"I guess he fell asleep so fast," Quinn thought to himself."He’s a human boy. I guess they do need sleep," he thought again.

Fallen Angels would be fine even if they didn’t sleep for as long as three days. But then he remembered Ryuk was human. Their rules didn’t apply to him.

"Goodnight," Quinn whispered before he also shut his eyes and fell into unconsciousness too.

The voice rang out louder and louder with every call and Ryuk soon snapped his eyes open and jumped off the bed, just to find the shining golden eyes in front of his face.

"Quinn! What?" Ryuk asked as Quinn pointed to the side where a clock could be seen, and Ryuk’s jaw dropped.

"Class resumes at 7:00, remember?" Quinn said as Ryuk wiped his eyes and focused his attention on the clock. Instantly, he jumped up to his feet.

"Fuck!" he screamed as he raced to the bathroom, grabbing a few clothes from the hanger before disappearing into the shower.

’I actually slept so hard. That damn soft bed is to blame...’ Ryuk thought to himself as he quickly disappeared into the bathroom and got himself ready for the first official training class.
