Chapter 570: They All Survived
“You do know that shelf is explicitly stuffed with all pepperish fruit, right?” Ryuk asked her as she got down from the cupboard with about three more of the peppers in her hands before she threw them into her mouth.
“Yeah?” She said as Ryuk watched her chewing down on them and seemingly relishing the taste, and a chill crawled up his spine.
“You… you don’t feel a burn in your throat?” he asked as she shook her head.
“Just continue on then…” he replied helplessly as he turned to the new eggs he was making.
He grabbed a bottle of chillis at the side, adding a bit more and stirring before moving them onto a plate.
Moving to a wardrobe, Ryuk grabbed a couple of tea bags from within, placing some water in a mug before he placed it in an oven and tapped a button.
It hummed to life before a ding was made, 10 seconds later.
Ryuk opened up and removed the mug whose water had become warm before he threw 7 tea bags into it.
Getting out three cups and a tray, he poured the tea into them before grabbing cans of milk, pouring them into the half-filled tea cups until they were full.
Grabbing everything, he placed them on a large tray before he moved out of the kitchen after signaling for Rhakashsa to follow him.
Ryuk moved back into the living room, where Antares was seemingly watching an important news conversation.
He appeared and placed the tray on the marble center table.
“You cook?” Antares asked, not bothering much with civility as he picked up one of the cups and took a sip, before picking up his dish and stuffing his mouth.
“You’re supposed to use the fork and the knife,” Ryuk said to him as she picked up his plate and grabbed the knife and fork, demonstrating to Antares, who looked at him as if he were dumb.
“Why would I bother with that when I have my hands?” he asked, reminding Ryuk of the conversation he had when he first met with Morgaine—
How she had lectured him about using a fork and spoon instead of his hands, and he shrugged before replying:
“You know what… you’re right!” he said, taking a seat by Antares’ side.
Rahkasa walked into the room, her hands reaching for the cup, when it paused in surprise as she looked at Antares.
“You’ve awakened…” Antares said at the sight of her, but then a bizarre look flickered in his eyes, as he watched her lean in closer to him, and sniffed him out, before leaning backwards.
“You smell a bit different, but no doubt about it. You’re one of them,” she said as Antares raised an eyebrow, same as Ryuk, who looked on from the side, stuffing his cheeks.
“One of whom?” Antares asked, reaching for his coffee.
“One of those Red-haired barbarians,” Rahkasa said with a shrug as she grabbed the remaining coffee and sat down by the side seat, also taking a sip.
But then, a powerful aura bloomed through the room, sending the air rippling into a mini-storm as Rahkasa paused in surprise, as she looked at the new chaos before her eyes narrowed at the subject.
It was none other than Antares who was paused in his movement of reaching for his cup, his gaze fixed on Rakhasa in disbelief.
“Did you just say, red-haired barbarians?” Antares asked, but then he felt Ryuk’s grasp on his shoulder.
“You’re losing control of your aura, Antares. Keep it down,” he said, and only then did Antares realize it as he withdrew his aura, the mini storm fading away just as they came.
“I’m sorry…” he uttered silently as Ryuk tapped twice in understanding before he turned to look at Rakhasa, whose eyes looked at both men in confusion, not really understanding the cause.
“Do you mind telling us more of these red-haired barbarians?” Ryuk asked Rkahssa, who raised an eyebrow from the sudden interest but proceeded to explain after taking another sip.
“They’re just some race I found in the Planetary Movement Port.”
“I was leaving the Gouruma World, where I had formerly headed to buy some shapeshifting talismans. I heard the world the world inhabitants were pretty good at Shapeshifting magic.”
“I didn’t get what I was looking for, though, but when I reached the port, I saw a peculiar scene of about a dozen tall, red-haired barbarians at the lot.”
“Quite the tall beings, but what got everyone’s attention on them was when everyone was boarding ships, they decided to board Void Rhinos instead.”
“Not only were those things slow, they were also chaotic. No one in their right sense of mind would choose to go on a world travel with something so brutish.”
“But I don’t think those barbarians care at all. They departed with the void Rhinos in the end.”
“It drew my attention for a bit, but I just went my way and continued to the Vryo World,” Rakhasa said, dropping her cup on the table before she reached for her plate and took a bite of the eggs
Eyes closed to relish the taste.
‘Surprisingly good…’ She thought to herself, but then was awakened when Ryuk asked a question.
“Those red-haired barbarians, Rakhasa…” he called out as she nodded.
“You don’t seem to know which world they were headed to, do you?” he asked as he chewed and took a bite of his eggs using a knife and fork
She remained silent for a while before she replied.
“They boarded Void Rhinos.”
“The only place where there is an abundance of those Void Rhinos is the Yomar World. The owners of those beasts, too, were Yomars, so they must have been going to the Yomar World.”
“But that was 213 or so years ago before I got imprisoned in those Lava Caves…” she said with her expression contorting to displease, which she stuffed down by throwing it all into her mouth before drowning it with the coffee.
Ryuk’s gaze turned to her to look at Antares, whose eyes shimmered with light, before he felt Ryuk’s gaze and turned to him.
“The Yomar World. You know that place?” he asked Antares, who nodded.
“And the Yomar World is also unique in that 95% of it is covered in broken mountains and rocks. That’s the perfect living environment for us, Aetheris barbarians,” he muttered under his breath as Ryuk smiled.
“I guess your people are still alive then,” he said to him, as he watched Antares shut his eyes, his hands clenching hard into his palm as evins popped on his hands.
‘They survived… they all survived.’
