Abyss Draconis Chapter 627

Chapter 627: The Truth Of Comfort Zones

“So essentially, an Upper Realm world that’s getting Lower energy from the perspective of the Eyes of Manous?” Ryuk asked, watching as the golden ball and circles slowly faded back into Old Jack.

“It might sound ridiculous,” Old Jack replied,

“but the Eyes of Manous determine the very hierarchy of a world. It’s of great importance.”

“The True World of us Fallens is ranked First Grade.”

” We might even be stronger than some Upper Realm worlds, but we exist below that invisible line—so we can never truly claim to be an Upper World.”

“We’ll always be counted as part of the Lower Realms,” he explained.

Ryuk nodded thoughtfully. “I understand now.”

Ryuk tilted his head to him and asked,

“And I’m guessing that, in the True World, you’re from a rather high-ranking family?”

Old Jack raised an eyebrow.

“And why do you think that?”

“Because you’re the only True Fallen?”

” The one with the purest bloodline—even purer than the Half-Fallen One who is Queen?”

Jack’s eyes narrowed slightly, but then settled back to normal.

“You’re right. Among us Fallens, royalty is ranked based on purity of bloodline.”

” Right now, it may seem like Asteralynia is the purest—hence why she’s Queen.”

“But in truth, I’m the one with the purest blood.”

He glanced downward, voice softer now.

Ryuk nodded again. Right now, the Fallen Angels only recognized the Half-Fallen One. They had no idea Old Jack was a True Fallen. If they did, they’d have made him the true ruler.

But he was already her lover—and by that alone, a King.

There wasn’t much more they could give him besides perhaps more attention or ceremonial praise.

Old Jack continued, “But to say I’m from a high-ranking family just because I’m a Fallen… that’s a bit ignorant.”

Ryuk turned to him with curiosity.

“Fallens might be rare here on Endearth—like me, the only one who was luckily or unluckily dragged here—but back in the True World of the Fallen Angels, True Fallens are regular citizens.”

“Regular?” Ryuk asked, eyes gleaming.

“Yes. My family, for instance, is just an average household. We’re all True Fallens—except for my mother, who’s Half-Fallen. Nothing special about our social status.”

“So… Fallens are common back there?”

“Quite. There’s a lot of us.”

Ryuk’s brows furrowed deeper.

“Then what about those Fallen Angels with black or golden wings? The ones we see here on Endearth?”

Old Jack looked down at the gathering of Fallen angels below, then shrugged.

“They’re like slaves.”

“Slaves?!” Ryuk asked, visibly disturbed as he turned to look at Jack, whose eyes didn’t even twitch.

“It’s disrespectful to say, but it’s the truth. Their bloodlines are so low they’re barely worth mentioning.”

“Amongst humans, they’d be seen as illiterates—farmers, carpenters, welders. You get the idea?”

Ryuk exhaled sharply. “I… didn’t expect that.”

Then he asked, “Do they know that? Do they know they’d be treated as slaves back in the True World?”

Jack chuckled lightly. “You know, Ryuk, on Endearth everyone looks at the Fallen Angels like they’re royalty. Most of the people who fear or respect us don’t even really know the Half-Fallen One.”

“Just the presence of any Fallen Angel is awe-inspiring enough—and no doubt, this already breeds arrogance in the hearts of the average Fallen.”

“They all think they’re as noble as people believe they are. Royalty. Heh.” Old Jack said chuckling mockingly.

“If they knew that in the True World of Fallen Angels they’d be looked down on as slaves in the hierarchy—do you really think they’d return there, smiling like that?”

Ryuk muttered, “So… you’re hiding the truth from them.”

Old Jack gave a small scoff whilst bringing out a cigarette stick.

“You make it sound bad. Would you prefer they remained here on Endearth then?”

Ryuk knitted his eyebrows, but just as quickly they settled, as he shrugged helplessly.

Jack nodded with quiet satisfaction and lit another cigarette.

“To these Fallen Angels, Endearth is a comfort zone.”

“They’re treated with respect, believed to be great, and most of them no longer strive for greatness. They already believe they’ve reached the peak.”

“But when they return to the True World… when they’re dragged out of their comfortable bubble, they’ll face the truth and they’ll see how weak they really are.”

“At that point, they’ll have a choice: let the truth break them and sink into despair, asking themselves why they ever left Endearth in the first place—or use the truth as fuel to grow into something far greater than they ever could have been here.”

“That’s what’s good about moving to a new place where you’re no longer at the top”

“You finally realize how much of a frog in a well you were—and that can drive you to climb higher than ever.”

Ryuk hummed thoughtfully silently thinking.

‘That’s true. Going to the Upper Realm isn’t just about finding the Dragons. It’s also about getting stronger.”

“Those in the Higher Realms should no doubt be more powerful than anyone here on Endearth.”

” If I had stayed, my growth might’ve stalled—or worse, I might’ve started believing I’d already reached the peak.”

“And in the end… that belief would’ve become my doom.”

Jack exhaled smoke slowly.

“Unfortunately,” he said drawing Ryuk’s attention.

“Some of them may not be handle it. The pressure breaks them. They try to return to being the ‘kings of the well’—which is technically mpossible since there’s not a return portal back to Endearth…”

“The result?” Ryuk muttered.

“They grieve and die inside. I call it the living death.”

“Whatever the case, it’s not something I can be blamed for.”

Ryuk gave a low hum, then asked:

“Tell me more about the hierarchy. If Fallens like you—those with the purest bloodlines here on Endearth—are just regular adults in that world, then who’s above them?”

“Who are the true royalties?”
