Yang Ming turned his head and glanced, seeing the huge projection poster that covered the entire building. It was a close-up of him facing the Insect Swarm.
The boy said, "Thank you, you saved us."
"Where are your family?"
"The last Insect infestation?"
"The famine after the infestation."
"Did something go wrong during the post-disaster reconstruction?"
"They said they issued food, but much of it was moldy, and the portions were severely insufficient. The adults gave the food to us."
"Why not report this issue online?"
"They confiscated our internet terminals, sir. That was the price for receiving food."
The boy's eyes were slightly red, but he quickly calmed down with a sniff, "Before my dad passed away, he said you saved us and gave us hope. This hope is the most precious thing; we must rely on ourselves to survive and take root on this planet again.
"You risked your life for us; if we don't live well, we'd be letting you down."
A nearby boy whispered, "They said publicly that many people left this planet. In fact, only a small part left. Many were tricked into high-load or dangerous labor, and many starved to death and were covered up."
The chubby boy muttered, "The land is completely polluted. Nothing grows from what we plant. The water has problems, and purified water is outrageously expensive. We have to queue up to use the bathroom and are limited on water."
Yang Ming smiled, "I think I understand. Take me to where you live. I might be able to bring you a few full meals."
"Are you inspecting?" the boy asked.
"Not really," Yang Ming replied, "I haven't officially taken office yet and don't quite know what a lord can do. Take me there."
"Alright, I hope you won't mind the environment here. At least we all have a place to live. There are plenty of houses here."
Peterson turned and made a gesture of invitation, lightly pressing his lips together, somewhat nervous.
Yang Ming smiled and rubbed his head, walking ahead with his hands behind his back.
"Boss," Lyu said softly, "enough materials have already been purchased near the planet, and they will soon be delivered to where they live."
Yang Ming tapped his earpiece, "First, bring over two comprehensive supply ships."
"Boss, we don't have supply ships that can operate legally within the Empire."
"Then buy them, under the pretense of forming private soldiers for the territory," Yang Ming said, "Activate the legally reserved funds within the Empire, buy more equipment, establish a food processing plant and a water purification plant as soon as possible, and build a temporary hospital. If the timeline is too long, get a few medical ships. Ensure at least the supply of food and healthcare services for three million people."
"Investigate the various issues in the post-disaster reconstruction of Saka Star."
Yang Ming said in a low voice, "No need to report to me. Solve problems as they are found, no need to take any legal route. The legal route takes too long. I don't want to meet with them; it makes me sick."
"Understood, doing so might cripple the Saka Star's current local government today."
"Let it be crippled, it was useless in the first place."
Yang Ming's mouth twitched slightly as he casually turned off the surrounding jamming devices and revealed a gentle smile.
Peterson asked nervously, "You, can you really fly?"
Yang Ming laughed, "A little, it's about using spiritual power to counteract gravity, somewhat similar to simulating a gravitational field."
The chubby boy beside asked, "So, as the internet says, you can single-handedly challenge a Fourth Rank queen?"
"That was before; if I call upon my strongest helper now, I might be able to handle a Fifth Rank Insect Swarm."
"Why do the insects want to attack us? They don't eat humans."
"The previous Insect infestation was their retaliation. Ultimately, two species are competing for survival rights. The minerals required by our warp engines are the same ones their queens need to evolve. This creates direct competition."
Their casual conversation drifted out of the alley, as if nothing had happened and time was peaceful.
