Matthew Morgan leaned back against the table, watching her with lively eyes, with a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
His gaze was filled with warmth and indulgence.
"Matthew, I’m tired..." Chloe Grant lay on the bed, her voice already muffled.
"Then take a nap, and eat when you wake up," Matthew Morgan replied.
"Okay... I want to eat what you cooked..."
In the end, her voice faded away.
After Chloe Grant’s car accident, she not only suffered from amnesia but also had another issue... she was always drowsy.
She would often fall asleep involuntarily.
The duration of her sleep was also much longer than usual.
Matthew Morgan walked over, took the plush toy from Chloe Grant’s arms, and covered her with a blanket.
He reached out and touched her forehead.
After soothing Chloe Grant, Matthew Morgan timed it right and worked in the study for about two hours before heading downstairs to start preparing dinner.
During Chloe Grant’s period of amnesia, Matthew Morgan had accumulated a lot of work that he couldn’t handle.
The main reason was Chloe Grant being too clingy to him.
If he wasn’t within her line of sight, she would start to panic, sometimes crying like a child.
In the first couple of days, when Chloe Grant slept, she had to hold onto Matthew Morgan.
She needed to see him the moment she opened her eyes.
Otherwise, she would make a fuss, cry, and her emotions would be unstable.
Now, she was terrified of the whole world, but he was the only one who could calm her down.
Matthew Morgan took off his coat, rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, put on an apron, and began to busy himself in the kitchen.
When Matthew Morgan had prepared a table full of delicious dinner, Lucas Morgan returned.
He was with Lily Grant.
"Smells so good," Lily Grant sincerely said.
Her hand was on Lucas Morgan’s arm.
Lucas Morgan’s face didn’t look good, maybe because of Chloe Grant’s recent attitude towards him, or perhaps for another reason.
Matthew Morgan glanced at Lucas Morgan, completely ignoring Lily Grant, and went straight upstairs.
Coincidentally, as Matthew Morgan pushed the door open, Chloe Grant happened to wake up, sitting on the bed with a dazed expression after waking.
Seeing Matthew Morgan, her eyes immediately lit up, and she ran barefoot towards him, jumping straight into his arms.
Matthew Morgan quickly caught her, afraid she might fall.
Chloe Grant said with a cheeky smile, "Waking up and seeing you is true happiness."
Her brows and the corners of her mouth were filled with satisfaction.
Matthew Morgan smiled and carried Chloe Grant inside, "The floor is quite cold; remember to wear shoes when walking."
He placed her back on the bed and then crouched down to put slippers on for Chloe Grant.
"Dinner is ready, let’s go downstairs to eat, hmm?"
"Okay!" Chloe Grant nodded obediently.
Matthew Morgan stood up, and Chloe Grant got up to follow him.
"Lucas Morgan will join us, and someone else too..." Matthew Morgan said.
Hearing that someone was about to intrude on their little world, Chloe Grant immediately pouted, "It’s that annoying person again."
"He tricks me like I’m a child, you say... I used to be close to him?" Chloe Grant was clearly unhappy about it.
Matthew Morgan nodded, having never hidden or twisted anything that happened in the past to maintain his current relationship with Chloe Grant.
"Then I must have been blind before!" Chloe Grant pursed her lips and silently nodded, drawing her conclusion.
Matthew Morgan chuckled, "You’re not blind, he is."
"I’ve seen his girlfriend, she seems to be my cousin? But I don’t like her," Chloe Grant shrugged.
"Let’s go down for dinner," Matthew Morgan suggested, then headed toward the door.
