Before Chloe could finish her sentence, Matthew Morgan had already domineeringly reached out, pulling her hand from behind her back, discovering a shallow cut on her index finger, currently bleeding.
Matthew Morgan’s face darkened instantly, "Can’t you take better care of yourself? Already twenty-two, yet still so reckless and careless."
As he spoke, he led Chloe inside and fetched the first aid kit used yesterday, then began to treat her wound.
The cut wasn’t deep, a band-aid would suffice.
But Matthew Morgan worried about infection, so he used alcohol to disinfect it.
During disinfection, Matthew Morgan was especially cautious, knowing this little one feared pain the most.
Could hardly endure any discomfort.
Surprisingly, Chloe’s expression was wooden throughout, even as Matthew applied the band-aid, Chloe didn’t make a sound.
"All done," Matthew Morgan said.
Chloe snapped back, quickly withdrawing her hand, lowering her head, utterly at a loss.
The silence stretched between them, creating an awkward atmosphere.
After about ten seconds, Matthew Morgan stood up from the sofa, stating coldly, "Your station manager will be changed today. The new manager is upright, only valuing work capabilities, never regarding relationships. Just focus on doing your job well."
As Matthew Morgan spoke, he headed inside, fetched Chloe’s slippers, squatted down, "Lift your foot."
Chloe was still bewildered, watching him, reflexively obeying, lifting her foot.
Matthew Morgan put the slippers on her.
