Ye Shu returned to Shengjing Garden, only to see Bai Yueru waiting for her at the entrance.
"Mom, why didn’t you go inside?" Ye Shu asked in surprise.
"Oh, I forgot to bring my keys. I heard from my son that you were coming back, so I specially came to see you." Bai Yueru said, her face full of affection as she held Ye Shu’s hand and examined her face, "You’ve lost weight! Daughter-in-law, if your husband ever bullies you, just tell me. I’ve got your back. Don’t run off rashly; it’s not safe abroad. The news reports one disappearance today, another disconnect tomorrow, all troubles arising abroad."
Ye Shu laughed, "I understand, Mom. By the way, I wanted to discuss something with you."
"Go ahead, what could we possibly need to hide from each other?" Bai Yueru said, holding Ye Shu’s hand as they started walking toward the inside of Shengjing Garden.
Once inside the house, Ye Shu helped Bai Yueru sit down on the sofa and presented her with a cup of tea with both hands, "Mom, here’s your tea."
"Ah, you’re such a dear. I’ve raised my son for so long and haven’t even had a sip of tea from him, yet it’s the daughter-in-law who’s filial. Anyway, speak your mind, is there anything you need my help with?" Bai Yueru asked after taking a sip of tea and setting the cup down.
