Looking into the distance, a swarm of brown carapaced mutant worms quickly approached over the creep.
The Elven soldiers immediately grew nervous.
Lickers were already fast, and with Fang Heng’s attribute bonuses, their speed among similar mutant creatures was top-tier. Now, with the additional movement boost from the creep!
They looked like dark shadows racing swiftly across the creep, charging at the elves’ defensive line!
The guard captain instantly tensed and shouted, "Protect His Highness!"
The Elven guards stepped forward to block in front of Lucien, organizing a retreat while firing Arrows of Nature at the incoming swarm.
"Bang! Bang bang bang!!!"
The concentrated Arrows of Nature exploded upon hitting the swarm!
The Elven soldiers’ expressions turned grim.
The mutant worms had similarly terrifying defense and regenerative abilities!
Even after the explosions from the arrows, the worms were merely knocked back temporarily, slightly delaying their advance.
What was even worse was the number of mutant worms!
The first wave had yet to be fully dealt with when another dense swarm surged from the depths of the creep.
The elves, being experts in assassination and ranged attacks, would be in serious trouble if overwhelmed in melee combat.
"Retreat! Get out of the creep zone!"
The guards quickly protected Lucien as they withdrew until they exited the creep. When they saw that the mutant worms did not pursue beyond the creep, they felt slightly relieved.
Lucien’s face was pale, clearly frightened by the overwhelming swarm.
A guard saluted and said, "Your Highness, the mutant creatures are extremely powerful. Our forces alone can’t hold them. We need reinforcements and must find the swarm’s source to eliminate it."
Rustling sounds came again from the edge of the creep.
Lucien and the others paused, watching the spot where the noise came from.
They saw the mutant worms lying prone on the creep, their limbs undergoing strange mutations and embedding into the creep to stabilize themselves. From their backs, eerie cannon-like structures began to form.
The captain of the guard, upon seeing the dark cannons forming on the Lickers’ backs, shouted, "Fall back quickly!"
Boom! Boom boom boom!!!
Two seconds later, thousands of dark red concentrated long-range blasts bombarded the retreating elves.
The nature barriers cast by the priests shattered in under half a second.
The guards’ expressions changed drastically.
"Quick! Protect the prince!"
From the shadows not far away, Fang Heng coldly observed the panicked elves.
He noticed an elf being well protected, seemingly someone of high status.
A dark Underworld Orb emerged from the tattoo on Fang Heng’s shoulder and suddenly flew toward Lucien.
A guard sensed the incoming danger and shouted, "Watch out!!"
The aura of the undead exploded!
In the next moment, Lucien clutched his corroded shoulder, gritting his teeth, his forehead soaked in cold sweat.
"Retreat! Quick retreat!"
The guards immediately supported Lucien and pulled him back from the battlefield.
From a distance, Fang Heng watched the fleeing elves and shook his head slightly.
"So weak. How boring."
The elves had now confirmed the presence of mutant worm nests.
They would likely begin to believe the translations of the prophecy carved into the stone walls.
Fang Heng licked his lips and commanded the Lickers to continue expanding the nests and send more through Abe Akaya’s teleportation passage into the Elven world.
