After Marrying Him, the Ending Has Changed Chapter 144

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: A Little Money-grubber

The person selling sunflower seeds at the movie theater entrance heard this and immediately picked up the bag of seeds and ran without daring to look back, fearful of being caught by the surveillance team and thrown into a big jail.

Yu Cheng didn’t even bother to take the seeds; he simply grabbed Jiang Mianmian and tucked her under his arm before taking off at a sprint.

Although Yu Cheng ran swiftly, Jiang Mianmian knew her own weight was definitely a burden for him, so she said, “Brother Yu, put me down, you can’t run fast with me. If the people from the surveillance team catch up, neither of us will be able to escape, and besides, they probably won’t give a child like me a hard time.”

Because she was being squeezed, her voice came out in fits and starts.

When Yu Cheng heard Jiang Mianmian’s words, he didn’t reply; he simply started running faster than before.

Soon, Yu Cheng had shaken off the surveillance team and found a hidden place to put Jiang Mianmian down.

Leaning against the wall, Yu Cheng slowly caught his breath; in fact, such exercise was barely anything to him.

It was only because he was holding onto Jiang Mianmian that he was worried she would run out of breath if they took too long.

Jiang Mianmian felt quite uncomfortable being clamped and running the entire way.

Now, with her feet firmly on the ground, she straightened up and stretched her body.

Only then did Yu Cheng notice the bag of sunflower seeds that Jiang Mianmian was clutching tightly in her arms and he couldn’t help but chuckle, “Little Lamb, you’re quite the little miser, huh? You still didn’t forget to take the seeds even at a time .”

Jiang Mianmian looked up at him seriously and said, “Brother Yu, it’s not easy making a bit of money selling sunflower seeds in the dead of winter outside, with so many seeds, we can’t just throw them away.”

Yu Cheng remembered how hoarse Jiang Mianmian’s voice was after shouting to sell seeds on their first day, and today they were chased by the surveillance team; indeed, it had not been easy.

“Yeah, it is not easy,” he agreed.

The two hid in the alley for a while, waiting until things outside had calmed down before heading back to the movie theater.

Jiang Mianmian, seeing the empty scene outside the movie theater, whispered, “I wonder who reported us to the authorities, that was really close.”

Yu Cheng wasn’t surprised in the least, “Although selling seeds is a small business, anyone with a mind to calculate can see the profit is substantial, so it’s not strange that someone would be envious and report us.”

Jiang Mianmian was well aware of this and wasn’t angered, instead sighing with a touch of indignation, “Ah, it’s all poverty’s fault.”

When her parents returned, Jiang Mianmian didn’t bring up the matter of being reported.

“There were quite a few sellers at the movie theater today, Brother Yu and I didn’t sell all our seeds.”

Jiang Changhai, although regretful that such a profitable exclusive business lasted only three days, was always broad-minded,

but Su Wanyu wore a look of disappointment; she had finally prepared to make a big move only for it to end prematurely.

In the evening, when they all returned home, they took out the money they had made in the past two days, subtracted the costs, and Jiang Changhai handed Yu Cheng’s share to him.

They had earned over two hundred yuan selling seeds in three days; after deducting the costs, he had about one hundred yuan in his hand now, which should be enough.

“Uncle Jiang, now that others have started selling seeds as well, we won’t make much more if we continue. I don’t think it’s worth wasting time to earn this bit of hard-earned money,” suggested Yu Cheng, leaving it to them to decide.

Jiang Changhai had been making big money recently, and he had begun to lose interest in such small amounts.

“Alright, then we won’t sell tomorrow. We’ll just eat the remaining seeds ourselves,” he decided.

Su Wanyu, though reluctant to let go of the money, was lazy; a small sum like that wasn’t enough motivation for her, so she had no objections.
