After Marrying Him, the Ending Has Changed Chapter 247

Chapter 247: Chapter 246 All About Jiang Mianmian Chapter 247: Chapter 246 All About Jiang Mianmian The old couple, feeling bored at home and not as leisurely as Jiang Changhai, decided to visit some of their closer acquaintances.

Upon arriving, Auntie Meng immediately greeted them warmly into her home, “Oh my, Brother Jiang, Sis-in-law, it’s been so long since you last came around. What have you been busy with at home?”

Auntie Meng was known for her hospitality. It had only been three or four days since Guihua and her husband visited, but Auntie Meng made it sound as though months had passed.

Guihua replied with a chuckle, “We haven’t been busy with anything special. There were many things to take care of before the New Year, but now we finally have some spare time, so here we are to see you.”

“You are indeed busy folks. Ah, Sis-in-law, how come you didn’t bring San Ya along for a walk?” asked Auntie Meng, curious.

“San Ya is staying at home.”

“Ah, that child is so well-behaved, not at all like those naughty ones who seem to have thorns in their sides, who can never sit still at home and always need to go out and run wild.”

Auntie Meng was referring to her grandchildren, who loved to run around outside all the time and had no interest in studying.

“San Ya is a quiet child, able to sit still and stay absorbed in her homework all through the winter break, refusing to go out and play even when invited.” While Guihua spoke with modesty, she couldn’t help but straighten her back slightly.

Auntie Meng enthusiastically told her visiting daughter and son-in-law, “Our old neighbors have a granddaughter who’s a prodigy. At just eight years old, she skipped three grades and went straight to the fourth grade. She even ranked first in her class at the end of term, and at the commune’s big meeting, the secretary of our commune personally awarded her.”

Jiang Dashan humbly interjected, “Sister, you’re giving her too much credit. Mianmian is just a bit better at studying than other kids.”

Auntie Meng’s daughter and son-in-law looked as if they’d just had an epiphany.

“So the child who was honored at this year’s commune meeting is your granddaughter?”

“She’s truly amazing; she looks so lovely and bright-eyed. It’s obvious you take great care of her,” they added.

Guihua eagerly replied, “Ever since she was little, whatever Mianmian ate at our house was always special. Even for going to and from school, it’s my eldest son who picks her up and drops her off every day. We put so much effort into raising her the way she is.”

The whole room was abuzz with praise for Mianmian, and the smiles never left the faces of the old couple.

Since the house had other visitors, the two didn’t feel it was polite to stay too long, so after a short while, they moved on to another neighbor’s home.

No sooner had they entered when the hosts started asking about Mianmian and how she studies at home.

Guihua, having no real idea how Mianmian typically studied, simply made up a few answers.

Upon leaving their house, Guihua turned around and said, “I’m going to bring San Ya out with us.”

Jiang Dashan didn’t object; he just silently stood there waiting.

As soon as the old lady got home, she saw that the couple from the main house were sound asleep on the kang, and San Ya was quietly reading a book on the side.

In the past, she would have scolded the couple for being lazy, good for nothing but eat and sleep, never bothering with any work.

But now, she saw things differently, considering that these ‘lazy bones’ had given her such an accomplished granddaughter. It could be said that the lazy now have their fortunes.

Having a granddaughter who excelled so in her studies meant the couple already had someone to rely on in their later years. “Let them be lazy,” she thought.

Then, with a kindly expression, she said to Mianmian, “My dear granddaughter, come with Granny for a walk to help digest your food.”

Mianmian was momentarily taken aback before she politely declined, “Granny, I haven’t finished my winter break homework yet. I need to stay home and work on that.”
