Jiang Changhai had a good afternoon’s sleep and felt much rejuvenated.
As he was waking up, Su Wanyu, who was about to leave, asked, “Brother Hai, are you coming with me to pick up our daughter? She’s been talking about you every day.”
“Of course I am! Wait for me a moment, I’ll go wash my face.”
The mention of picking up his daughter made Jiang Changhai stretch lazily, moving his limbs a bit before he hurried up to get ready.
After school, Jiang Mianmian, carrying her backpack, was mentally counting the days till her dad’s return.
Unexpectedly, she hadn’t even reached the school gate when she saw her parents waiting outside the school for her.
Jiang Mianmian couldn’t believe her eyes and rubbed them, her dad had actually come back!
She ran to the school gate and plunged into Jiang Changhai’s arms, exclaiming with a face full of surprise, “Dad, you finally came back, I missed you so much.”
“Haha, Dad missed you too! Come on, girl, let’s go to a restaurant and have a good meal,” Jiang Changhai said, patting her fuzzy little head.
Jiang Mianmian gazed at her dad with big, watery eyes, carefully sizing him up, “Dad, you really worked hard this time, you’ve lost weight.”
Jiang Changhai touched his own face and said nonchalantly, “I haven’t lost weight. We’ll go to the state-owned restaurant in a bit, and have a good meal to truly honor my insides.”
These days, having suffered from poor sleep and meals on the road, he had completely lost his sense of taste.

Upon reaching the Jiang Family home, Zhang Guihua came out hastily when she saw Jiang Changhai had returned.
She had really missed her eldest son, whom she hadn’t seen in over ten days.
“Oh my, Eldest, how have you lost so much weight? Is it that the transport company’s work is too demanding?” Zhang Guihua asked with a pained look in her eyes.
“Mom, I’m fine, don’t make a big deal out of it,” Jiang Changhai replied nonchalantly.
“What do you mean, ‘make a big deal’? Look at how thin you’ve become! It’s definitely because your wife doesn’t take care of people. She’s lazy at home, but did she even skimp food at your dormitory? Didn’t make you delicious food, starving you ? I knew it would be , you might as well have brought the meat home, and I would have cooked it,” Zhang Guihua angrily pointed at Su Wanyu and complained.
Jiang Changhai immediately defended his wife, stepping in front of Su Wanyu, “Mom, don’t talk nonsense, my wife cooks the best meals, and I love eating what she makes. I’ve just been a bit tired because of the factory’s demands, we’ve been busy recently. A few days of rest and I’ll be fine.”
Hearing this, Jiang Changtao gave a wry smile, looking at his elder brother speechlessly.
