The system, puzzled, asked, "Host, why aren’t you conducting experiments?"
Jiang Mianmian: "No need to rush, I have to first connect all this knowledge thoroughly and integrate it before I start experimenting."
Poring over her notes from before, Jiang Mianmian thought about where to begin her experiments tomorrow.
Because the next day was the day to pick up the final grades at school, Jiang Mianmian got up early. By the time she arrived at the classroom, many students were already there.
As soon as Zhong Yuan saw her, he quickly stood up and inquired, "Jiang Mianmian, did you manage to do that bonus question in math?"
Jiang Mianmian nodded: "Yeah, I answered it."
Upon hearing this, Zhong Yuan’s eyes widened in surprise, and with admiration tinged with worship, he said, "Jiang Mianmian, you really are amazing. Tian Weiwei and I both couldn’t work out the last sub-question of that problem. I had a bit of an idea, but when I tried to continue with the calculation, I didn’t know which formula to use."
Jiang Mianmian patted Zhong Yuan’s shoulder, comforting him, "Zhong Yuan, actually that question was beyond the syllabus. You need the knowledge from the end of next semester to solve it. But don’t be discouraged; I just happened to have read about that particular knowledge point."
"Yeah, you don’t have to comfort me. I’m fine; I will continue to work hard. I will definitely surpass you," Zhong Yuan quickly regained his fighting spirit and said confidently.
Before the two had spoken for a few minutes, Teacher Qiu walked in with a thick stack of test papers. Seeing that all the students were present, she clapped her hands and waited for the room to quiet down before cheerfully saying, "Come, the class president and study committee member, come help me distribute the test papers."
No sooner had she finished speaking than two students walked up to the podium, took the test papers from Teacher Qiu, and began to call out names and hand them out.
At the beginning of the school term, when Teacher Qiu was selecting the class president and study committee member, she had intended to choose Zhong Yuan and Jiang Mianmian, but they both refused, saying they didn’t want to be distracted and wanted to focus on studying.
So Teacher Qiu had to pick other students for the class roles.
After Jiang Mianmian received her test paper, Zhong Yuan asked in a low voice, "Jiang Mianmian, could I have a look at your math test paper?"
"Sure," Jiang Mianmian handed her test paper over immediately.
Zhong Yuan took it, quickly flipped to the last bonus question, looked it over carefully, and then handed it back to her.
This semester, Jiang Mianmian scored full marks and ranked first in the grade, while Tian Weiwei and Zhong Yuan tied for second place.
After the test papers were distributed, the teachers wrote the homework on the blackboard, and after the students copied it, everyone went home.
When school was out, Zhong Yuan and Tian Weiwei walked home together.
Tian Weiwei lamented, "Zhong Yuan, Jiang Mianmian is just too amazing. I spent a long time on that math problem and still couldn’t solve it."
"Yeah, she truly is amazing. I looked at her solution to the bonus question; it was very clear and simple. But we aren’t too shabby either. I’ve decided, this winter vacation, I won’t go out to play. I’ll stay at home and study seriously, aiming to surpass Jiang Mianmian as soon as possible," Zhong Yuan said, swearing solemnly.
Tian Weiwei, who had been somewhat dejected, felt inspired upon seeing Zhong Yuan’s determination.
"Right, you’re correct, Zhong Yuan. I, too, want to study hard. I can’t fall behind you two," Tian Weiwei raised her fist, shook it, and declared.
Then, the two of them walked home with their backpacks, discussing whether they should find a tutor for the winter vacation.
When Jiang Mianmian got home, Su Wanyu was sitting on the couch, contentedly watching TV.
