Su Wanyu opened the bundle and whispered, “I made two pairs of underwear for you, and two tops for myself.”
“Why did you make these for me? I still have some. Why didn’t you make clothes for yourself?” Jiang Changhai was somewhat displeased to see that Su Wanyu had used all the cloth he had bought for them.
“Mianmian goes to school every day; making her two sets of clothes gives her something to change into. Your underwear has holes in it; can you even wear them anymore? As for me, my old clothes aren’t worn out, I can still wear them, so I didn’t need to make any,” Su Wanyu explained with a smile.
Jiang Changhai wrapped his arms around Su Wanyu, kissed her on the cheek, and said, “My wife is really wonderful. But don’t worry, wife, next time I go to town I’ll definitely get some cloth tickets, and then I’ll make you a beautiful outfit.”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting. I believe in you.”
After relieving herself, Jiang Mianmian walked back feeling refreshed and happened to run into Zhaodi who was just stepping out.
Zhaodi’s eyes lit up immediately when she saw Jiang Mianmian in new clothes, “Sister San Ya, your clothes look really nice.”

“I was talking with my brother and sister outside,” Jiang Mianmian explained in a soft voice.
During the meal, everyone in the room couldn’t help but glance at Jiang Mianmian after each bite of food. Their usual clothes were all dull and gray, but now with Mianmian’s bright red new clothes, she was as conspicuous as a searchlight in the darkness.
Jiang Mianmian was now the only splash of bright color in the dreary room.
Being watched by so many people, as if she were a monkey on display, made this meal particularly difficult for Jiang Mianmian.
“Mom, Mianmian looks really good in that red outfit. Mom, you’ve never worn such fine fabric, have you?” Sun Lixia couldn’t stand to see a young girl dressed so well and deliberately stirred trouble.
