Jiang Changhai, standing on the side and smelling the aroma, was eagerly watching the kids drink chicken soup, feeling a bit tempted himself: "Mom, how about pouring a bowl for my wife and me to taste? We work hard making money and need some nourishment too."
"Yes, Mom, my work as a translator requires a lot of brainwork every day. I feel like I’ve lost weight these past few days, and need to eat something good to replenish myself," Su Wanyu quickly added.
Zhang Guihua glanced at the two of them, hesitated for a moment, and eventually headed to the kitchen.
The two saw an opportunity and quickly followed to the kitchen door, eagerly waiting for the old lady’s heartwarming chicken soup.
Soon, the old lady brought out a big bowl and handed it to them.
Seeing his mother bring such a big bowl of chicken soup for him and his wife, Jiang Changhai couldn’t help but beam with joy.
See, a Biological mother is a Biological mother after all; though she often nags at me, in reality, she surely still cares for me.
"Mom, you’re the best, I knew you always cared for me the most," Jiang Changhai said happily.
"Yes, drink up. I’ve given you all the good stuff," Zhang Guihua said with a smile, handing him the bowl.
Jiang Changhai took a look and was instantly dumbfounded: "Mom? Just this..."
Zhang Guihua had indeed poured them a big bowl of chicken soup, but a chicken head took up a large portion of the space, and the rest was just some innards.
"What? Don’t like it? If you don’t, give it back." Zhang Guihua glared at him.
"No, I do like it, but it’s all innards. You didn’t put in any pieces of meat for me," Jiang Changhai mumbled, but he held the bowl steadily.
"Chicken meat? The chicken meat is for Mianmian. All three chickens were raised for her, and you two are just benefitting from the leftovers. Eating some innards is good enough for you. Shoo shoo, get out, don’t delay my cooking," Zhang Guihua said impatiently, pushing him out.
Though Jiang Changhai joked with his mom, he knew she truly loved her granddaughter. He was the happiest that his mom doted on his daughter.
Jiang Changhai smiled, holding the chicken soup, and attentively offered it to his wife: "Wife, you drink first. Whatever you leave, I’ll have."

Jiang Mianmian had heard the conversation between her father and grandmother just now.
So while the old lady was busy in the kitchen and Zhiwen and Zhiwu were watching TV in the living room, she discreetly took a couple of good pieces of meat from her bowl and put them into her parents’ bowl.
The couple, seeing that the old lady didn’t notice, quickly split the pieces and ate them. After finishing, they gave their daughter a secret thumbs-up.
Truly, a daughter is a warm coat for her parents!
The old lady was now in the kitchen, enthusiastically preparing the meal.
She used to be frugal with seasonings and oil when cooking at home, but now that Jiang Mianmian needed good nutrition for her upcoming exams, she changed her old ways and was generous with oil and seasonings, not sparing rice and meat either. Before long, the aroma of food wafted from the kitchen.
Honestly speaking, the old lady’s cooking skills were quite good; it’s just that life was tough before, and being full was a blessing, much less having the luxury to pursue taste.
Now that the conditions were better, the meals she prepared were not comparable to those by master chefs at state-owned restaurants, but they were still considerably better than Su Wanyu’s.
