Chapter 53: Chapter 53 Mrs. He Visits
Xia Chuyi looked at these anxious little creatures and couldn’t help but grin.
“Everyone, it still needs to cook for a while longer!”
The little white fur seemed like it understood her, sat down, raised its head, and stared straight in the direction of the Medicinal Food.
Can they really understand? A thought crossed her mind.
Half an hour later, the Medicinal Food was ready. Xia Chuyi lifted the pot and placed it on the table, looking toward the little white fur.
“Can you understand human speech? Is this what you want to eat? If yes, give me a bark.”
The little white fur glanced at her and barked, “Ao!”
Receiving a confirmed answer, Xia Chuyi nodded.
“Alright, since that’s the case, look here, I’m the only one who can make this, right? So, if you want to eat this, can we make an agreement not to destroy anything in the yard or in the house?”
“Ao ao!” The little white fur paused, then looked up and barked twice.
The chickens and ducks outside responded with a clamor.
Xia Chuyi laughed, these creatures really were spiritually aware.
“So, from now on, you will live here.”
With that, she set the Medicinal Food on the ground, opened the kitchen, and several Mr. Ducks instantly rushed in.
After sorting out the kitchen, she immediately went to a hole in the fence, moved several thorny bushes over, and sealed the hole.
With these new guests, she would have her hands full. Any more, and she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Having taken care of these things, Xia Chuyi then rested.
The next day, Xia Chuyi rose early, strolled around the main house, didn’t actually do any chores, and came back with breakfast.
Because of the marriage negotiations, the main house was very courteous toward her.
They probably feared she might regret causing such trouble.
She enjoyed the relaxed treatment.
Back in her room, she claimed she had already eaten and gave all her breakfast to Mother Xia, preparing to leave.
“Chuyi…” Mother Xia seemed like she wanted to say something, but Xia Chuyi didn’t give her a chance.
“I am going upstairs to read.” She went straight to the attic.
It wasn’t long before a loud voice resounded in the yard, startling many people.
“Grandpa Xia, Grandma Xia, is anybody home? I am from the He Family, here to discuss something.”
She cracked open the window of the attic and sure enough, Mrs. He was stepping into the yard.
“Interesting, the Xia Family hasn’t approached the He Family yet, but the He Family has come to us first.”
Xia Chuyi played with her braid, intrigued as she watched below.
She saw that Mrs. He had barely reached the door of the third room when it creaked open.
“Aunt He!” Xia Lan called out warmly and rushed forward, getting her request in first, “Are you here to discuss the marriage between Brother Qing and me?”
Xia Lan’s tone was clearly anxious.
How could she not be? There were people in the main house waiting to snatch this opportunity.
Mrs. He glanced at her with a complex expression and responded noncommittally, “Hmm.”
Her affirmation made Xia Lan glow with happiness, she couldn’t contain herself and rushed forward to link arms with Mrs. He, saying, “Aunt He, rest assured, I know Brother Qing is a very filial son, and once we’re married, I’ll be just as filial to you!”
Perhaps due to the urgency to complete the marriage negotiations, Xia Lan was somewhat agitated. In a rural setting, it would be considered impertinent for a young woman to speak of such things before anything was set.
As expected, Xia Chuyi saw Mrs. He’s eyebrows twist in disapproval.
