After saying this, Chen Feng stood up decisively and walked out.
Mr. Shen, holding his daughter’s phone, had already seen the transfer details on it, including the bank notification of the deposit. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something multiple times, but ultimately said nothing. He could only watch as Chen Feng walked all the way to the door, opened it, and left.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Shen was still comforting her daughter, while Shen Lin continued crying, her head buried. She had heard Chen Feng’s words just now, but for the moment, she truly didn’t know how to hold him back or what to say to him. She didn’t raise her head due to Chen Feng’s departure.

So, she chose to avoid confronting it altogether.

Mr. Shen hadn’t expected Chen Feng to transfer a million so easily to his daughter, which undoubtedly indicated that Chen Feng was quite wealthy now, as a million clearly wasn’t much to him.

"You brat! What nonsense are you spouting?" Mrs. Shen slammed the table, retorting, "What was wrong with that rich kid I introduced to you back then? His family has several factories, and they are an elite family in our region. If you had married him, you’d be a lady, and there wouldn’t be any talk of divorce now."
Shen Lin sneered, "Do you think I don’t know? That rich kid indulges in all sorts of vices. Even if his family is wealthy, he’s a good-for-nothing. Marrying such a pig-like scion would have been throwing me into a pit of fire. And I heard not long ago that several of their factories can’t sustain themselves anymore, and they’re on the verge of bankruptcy. If I had married him, do you think my days would be easy now?"
Mrs. Shen was rendered speechless. It was indeed the case. She originally thought her daughter didn’t know, but she knew it all too well, and her expression turned a bit awkward.
Mr. Shen tried to smooth things over, "Everything we’ve done has been for your own good. Even demanding the breakup fee from Chen Feng, wasn’t it also for you?"
"Alright then." Shen Lin replied immediately, "As you said, this money won’t be asked of me. Anyway, you both have pensions and medical insurance now and no particular expenses."
Mr. and Mrs. Shen were momentarily dumbfounded. Who doesn’t like money? While they demanded the compensation largely for their daughter, part of the reason was undeniably for themselves. It was only human nature.

And to regain the former son-in-law’s favor, returning this one-million breakup fee would undeniably be a big plus.
However, thinking of giving back the money which they haven’t even spent yet was hard for her to accept.
Mrs. Shen emphasized, "I have no objections if she remarries him, but until they succeed in remarrying, that money definitely shouldn’t be returned."
Mr. Shen retorted, "If they get remarried, what’s hers is his, and what’s his is hers. What’s the difference?"
