The man next to him nudged him with his elbow and gave him a look: “Enough, stop talking. Didn’t Old Wei say not to talk about this? Did you forget?”
“I know, I know, I was just venting. Once Old Wei finishes off that female ghost, my good days will finally be back!”
“Hahaha, hey, so which one are you into?” The man’s eyes turned suggestive. “Now that Zhao Xu’s dead, maybe his sister…”
“Hahahaha you bastard!! That girl Zhao Meng’s actually not bad, but the two she brought along aren’t bad either. If we could have all three, that’d be perfect…”
The two of them bantered back and forth, completely unaware that two people were hiding in the corner.
Guangran frowned. “What… do those villagers mean? That sounded really off.”
Qi Mai pulled her into the room. “Forget them for now. We’ve got more important things to do.”
Guangran nodded. She looked at Zhao Xu’s horrific face and forced herself to push past her discomfort. She placed her hand on his forehead and slowly closed her eyes.
Then Guangran suddenly opened her eyes and gasped for breath, clutching Qi Mai beside her, her expression shocked like she had seen something unbelievable.
“What is it?” Qi Mai asked in a low voice. “What did you see?”
Guangran’s heart was in turmoil. She looked up blankly and stammered, “Brother Qi… I think we’ve been tricked.”
By Bo Jingmo, and by the female ghost.
“I saw it. Zhao Xu was killed by Bo Jingmo and the female ghost—together.”
Meeting Qi Mai’s gaze, she trembled as she revealed the most shocking truth: “And Bo Jingmo and the female ghost… are a couple.”
So. There was never any seduction involved.
From beginning to end, Bo Jingmo had been working with the ghost to deceive them...
He was a player himself, but he was helping the female ghost kill players.
He even tricked them into killing their own teammate.
This conclusion sent chills through Guangran. She had never encountered anything . Even Ji Xun and the others had only sabotaged each other to fight for points.
But Bo Jingmo—he was aiming for their lives!
And there was something even trickier in front of them. Guangran clutched Qi Mai’s wrist. “Brother Qi, the villagers are bad too. The female ghost was killed by them when she was alive. Even if she dies now, there’s no way we’ll survive under those villagers.”
It really was wolves in front and tigers behind.
No matter which direction they went, this group of players was walking straight into death.
At that thought, her heart sank into despair, and her grip slowly loosened.
Qi Mai’s expression was grim, but his voice remained steady. “Don’t panic. We already know about Bo Jingmo and the female ghost. Right now, the priority is uncovering the village’s secret. Either way, that’s a lead.”
Outside the house, a red figure stood behind a tree.
Behind her, two corpses lay silently on the ground not far away. If Guangran had been there, she would’ve recognized them as the two villagers who had just transported the bodies.
The woman watched everything happening in the house, her voice laced with a faint smile: “Bo Jingmo, our plan’s been exposed.”
She had originally intended for the players to help Wei Caifan. As long as they became accomplices instead of bystanders, then she and Bo Jingmo killing everyone would be justified.
She hadn’t expected Guangran’s skill to reveal memories of the dead.
Truly a useful ability.
Now, it looked like the players wouldn’t be helping Wei Caifan anymore. The village’s secret wouldn’t stay hidden either.
The man bent down from behind and wrapped his arms around her waist. His body still carried the killing aura and blood from earlier, a faint red light flashing in his eyes.
His cold lips pressed gently against her neck as he murmured with soft affection: “It’s fine. If you still want to kill, just go ahead. You haven’t let go of your grudge yet. Killing is justified.”
Since the players hadn’t resolved the female ghost’s resentment, the ghost was still allowed to kill.
Yu Li leaned back lazily into his arms and chuckled, brushing his face with her fingers and raising a brow: “That makes sense. But then the difficulty of the instance gets too high.”
The main team hadn’t made any mistakes. They’d even figured out the village’s secret. If they were just killed now, the audience wouldn’t buy it.
This instance wasn’t particularly difficult. The ghost was even cooperative with the players. If her killing aura stayed too heavy, her character risked being exposed.
Soon the little system would start panicking again.
That was why she’d stopped Bo Jingmo from revealing the truth to the players in the first place—because once they solved the mystery of the village, she couldn’t just kill freely anymore.
She had planned to kill a few more, but that probably wouldn’t work now.
Yu Li tapped her fingertip against the man’s arm, narrowed her eyes, then suddenly curled her lips: “Since they already figured it out, we might as well let them know everything.”
She tilted her head and smiled at Bo Jingmo before leaning in for a kiss: “Besides, someone’s bound to die anyway. We’ve already achieved our goal.”
These players had lost their original intent.
They’d begun betraying their teammates, turning cooperation into mutual exploitation.
That was exactly what Yu Li wanted.
As long as everyone was a villain, then there was no such thing as a villain anymore.

The night breeze blew past. Leaves drifted down from the tree. The two figures beneath it vanished.
Meanwhile, inside the house where Ji Xun lay—
Yi Xian opened the door. Upon seeing Ji Xun inside, a flicker of complex emotion crossed her eyes as she slowly walked in.
Ji Xun tried to sit up when he saw her return, but the pain forced him to lie back down.
“What did you see over there?”
Yi Xian sat down in the chair, her expression cold: “Zhao Xu’s dead. Bo Jingmo is too.”
Ji Xun blinked in surprise. “Bo Jingmo’s dead too?”
“Apparently. Old Wei said he’s become a ghost now,” Yi Xian said matter-of-factly, tone calm. “So, Ji Xun, we’ve decided to offer you up and then destroy the female ghost.”
Her voice was too calm. Ji Xun didn’t grasp it at first. When he did, his tone suddenly sharpened: “You’re going to let me die??!”
He knew this tactic too well!
“That’s right.” Yi Xian curled her lips, narrowing her eyes. “You’re stuck in bed now, worse than dead. You might as well do something useful for once.”
“Bullsh*t!! In your dreams!!” Ji Xun roared from the bed.
Yi Xian stood up and looked down at him: “Ji Xun, I saved your life once. But you didn’t bring me any surprises. You’re useless now. According to team rules, this is all you’re good for.”
Ji Xun’s eyes reddened with rage. He gritted his teeth and glared at Yi Xian: “Don’t even think about it!! If I die, you all die with me!! I’m not letting any of you walk away so easily!”
Guangran and Qi Mai had just stepped into the house when they heard those words. They froze for a second, then opened the door and walked in.
The four of them looked at each other. For a moment, no one spoke.
Guangran pressed her lips together, hesitating whether to reveal what she had discovered.
Then, a woman’s soft laugh suddenly echoed in the room:
“Why don’t I help you all instead?”
