Agreeing to Create Bad Games, What the Hell Is ‘Titanfall’? Chapter 34

Meanwhile—

Zhongjing.

YiYou Platform, Director of Marketing’s Office.

“Senior, I really have to thank you this time.”

Chen Hang, Vice President of Xingmang Games, sat with a humble posture, respectfully poured a cup of tea, and handed it over with both hands to Sun Guoping across from him.

“It was your foresight that did the trick,”

“Not only did you boost our vote count, but you also suppressed that Golden Wind company.”

And that was no small matter.

As a company that mainly produced mid-to-small-scale games, Xingmang’s biggest headache recently had been this up-and-coming Golden Wind.

But more critically, Golden Wind had snatched the top sales ranking from Xingmang twice in a row.

That was something Xingmang couldn’t tolerate.

They didn’t have the clout of the industry giant Rapid Vine, who could just buy out competitors left and right.

So if they couldn’t assimilate them, the only option was to suppress them.

Fortunately—

Chen Hang found out that Golden Wind had no real dealings with Sun Guoping.

They hadn’t even shown up to offer formal greetings, let alone extend any kind of goodwill.

So Chen Hang took the initiative and suggested: “Maybe we could push Golden Wind down a little.”

As for Sun Guoping—

He had long been annoyed by Golden Wind's attitude.

After all, this company had taken the sales crown two weeks in a row with just two games!

And still—no visit, no thank-you gift, not even a polite call?

The two hit it off instantly.

Under Sun Guoping’s covert instructions, his trusted engineer secretly tweaked the ranking algorithm for Vampire Survivors, ensuring it would always appear on the later pages of the refresh list.

Then, the day before the final tally,

Sun Guoping directly swapped the vote counts of Brothers' Big Adventure and Vampire Survivors in the backend.

This act blatantly violated the “Two Musts, Three Nevers” that Yan Sheng had emphasized repeatedly in executive meetings.

But Sun Guoping just shrugged it off with a laugh.

Don’t be ridiculous. The company had been “officially against corruption” for years now.

And when had he ever been caught?

This entire unspoken system had been running for so long, it was practically corporate tradition.

That whole “Two Musts, Three Nevers” spiel?

Just political theater.

A new exec trying to make a splash.

Cracking down on the little guys for show—but it would never reach someone like him.

He was a founding member of the company, after all.

“A small favor, really,”

Sun Guoping chuckled as he accepted the tea.

“How could I not help my junior? Would I help outsiders instead?”

“Besides, Xingmang is clearly the more mature and stable choice,”

“A golden opportunity like this should go to a solid, reliable team to get the best result.”

His words sounded righteous, with not a single mention of the money he’d taken.

Across the table, Chen Hang nodded repeatedly.

“Yes, yes, Senior, your vision is unmatched,”

“You gave this opportunity to the right guy. Most people couldn’t even handle it!”

With that, the two toasted with their tea and shared a hearty laugh.

“All right then, I won’t take up any more of your time.”

After finishing his tea, Chen Hang stood up and said politely,

“You’ve got a full plate, Senior. I’ll take my leave for now. Once the development fest is over and you’ve got some breathing room, I’ll treat you to a proper drink!”

Chen Hang left the office in great spirits.

Humming a little tune, he strolled into the elevator lobby and pressed the button.

Ding!

A few seconds later, the elevator doors opened.

Out stepped a young girl, followed by a poised woman who looked like her assistant or older sister.

As they passed each other, Chen Hang gave them a glance, his eyes greedily sweeping over the duo. He smacked his lips in appreciation.

Then, without another thought, he stepped into the elevator.

Ding-dong—

As the doors began to close, Chen Hang faintly heard a sharp, youthful voice from the direction of the front desk:

“Your boss is Yan Sheng, right? Is he here? I’m here to ask him something.”

What a fiery little thing!

The sudden arrival had caught the front desk off guard.

They didn’t know what she was here for, but she carried a powerful aura, with an assistant-looking woman in tow.

The receptionist didn’t dare be rude. She stood up quickly, put on a polite smile, and asked:

“May I ask who you are?”

“Shen Miaomiao, President of Golden Wind Game Technology Co., Ltd.”

That’s right!

It was none other than Shen Miaomiao, who had rushed over by high-speed rail—charging in like a storm to confront someone.

“Um… right.”

The receptionist hesitated.

Golden Wind? Never heard of them. And they definitely hadn’t visited before.

“What can I help you with? Do you have an appointment with President Yan?”

“No appointment, and I don’t need one,”

Shen Miaomiao shook her head.

“Just tell him someone from Shen Wanlin’s family is here to see him.”

“Well… all right, please have a seat on the sofa over there while I inform him.”

Normally, walk-ins couldn’t just meet Yan Sheng like that. The front desk would usually deny them on the spot.

But this was different.

The receptionist didn’t know who Shen Miaomiao was,

But her bold tone and confident presence meant she wasn’t someone to be brushed off.

She immediately rang up the boss’s secretary:

“Secretary Li, this is the front desk. We have a visitor named Shen Miaomiao, President of Golden Wind Game Company. She says she’s with Shen Wanlin.”

“Does President Yan have time to meet with her?”

“Who?!”

Inside the YiYou President’s Office—

Upon hearing the name, Yan Sheng jolted upright, a flash of panic in his eyes as he stared at his secretary.

“Who did you say is here to see me?”

Normally composed and shrewd, Yan Sheng rarely showed emotion.

His secretary had never seen him so rattled before.

“The president of Golden Wind Game Company. Her name is… Shen Miaomiao.”

“No, not that part—the last thing she said.”

“Oh, right. She said she’s with Shen Wanlin.”

Yan Sheng’s heart skipped a beat.

Crap.

It was no surprise the front desk and his secretary didn’t know Shen Wanlin.

But he did.

He was the head of Shen Capital—worth tens of billions in USD, owning countless holding groups across real estate, tech, healthcare, mining—you name it.

Low-key in personality, but without question, one of the top ten business moguls in the country.

And now—

A young woman, with the surname Shen, claiming to be with Shen Wanlin?

Who else could she be?!

If not his daughter, then she was at least a close family member!

Yan Sheng didn’t dare be careless.

He leapt to his feet, throwing on his suit jacket while muttering,

“Of course I know him. Doesn’t mean he knows me though.”

The secretary sucked in a breath.

“Well… President Yan, the receptionist said she sounds pretty aggressive. Doesn’t look like a business meeting—more like she’s here to pick a fight.”

Hearing that, Yan Sheng nearly collapsed.

He looked at his secretary in panic:

“Our front desk didn’t piss her off, did they?”

“Nope. You always told us to maintain a smiling attitude at reception,”

The secretary shook her head.

“And when the receptionist saw a young girl talking big, they played it safe and politely asked her to wait.”

“Good. Very good.”

Yan Sheng gave a big thumbs-up.

“Give the front desk a bonus at the end of the month—seriously.”

They just saved his a.*

He mentally thanked their ancestors eight generations back.

If this had turned into one of those cliché scenes from a trashy novel where the receptionist acted snobbish and offended the heiress—

He’d be totally screwed.

Now properly dressed, Yan Sheng strode out of his office toward the lobby.

Even before he reached Shen Miaomiao, a huge smile had already bloomed on his face:

“President Shen! President Shen, haha—what an honor!”

“I’m so sorry we didn’t greet you earlier. Please forgive the oversight—what a pleasant surprise!”
