America 1919 Chapter 504

Where did Donnie’s funds come from?

Where did Donnie’s funds come from?

Inside the NYSE hall!

The securities traders who regularly mingled in the NYSE could distinctly feel that the atmosphere in the trading hall today was completely different.

Even though the trading hall was still bustling with noise and haste today, everyone seemed to be preoccupied with something, occasionally glancing at the hall during their work, then checking their pocket watches or looking towards where the gongs resounded in the hall.

It was clear that these people were waiting for something.

When Tang Fei, along with George Whitney, William Mellon, Owen Young, and Charles Merrill, entered the hall chatting and laughing, the trading floor instantly hushed.

This was an odd combination; they were both partners and competitors.

The recent turmoil on Wall Street had been stirred up by these men.

Donnie, in the end, had not agreed to step forward to clarify matters for companies like Morgan.

This choice, of course, displeased people like George Whitney, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Simply put, Donnie was now beyond their control.

In the end, they had no choice but to appear with Donnie in the NYSE hall for the ringing of the bell for ABC’s listing.

Not only were all the traders of the NYSE paying attention to this matter, but if one observed carefully, there were many additional people in the NYSE today, including managers from major securities firms and journalists from major newspapers across America.

The listing of ABC had now touched the hearts of countless people.

They were eager to know who would have the last laugh in this struggle they called the ABC civil war.

Or rather, how would Tang Fei fail!

“Donnie, have you really made up your mind?

Once the bell rings, there’s no turning back!”

George Whitney stood beside Donnie, juggling conversation with the managers of various securities firms and journalists, and whispered to Donnie.

Donnie, with a smile, was also handling the onlookers, saying, “I have to ask you the same thing, George.

Are you mentally prepared to deal with the queries from Morgan’s people in the coming time?”

George Whitney’s expression shifted subtly.

He knew what Donnie meant.

If Tang Fei won, Morgan would have to bear the loss of shorting ABC, and a scapegoat would be needed.

Just like what Donnie had said to Owen Young, George Whitney was only one of the partners at Morgan.

Although he had a high position and influence, he would still be held accountable if there was a significant failure!

Although George Whitney was convinced such a situation would not occur, he still felt a chill down his spine.

From the beginning of the incident to the imminent bell ringing, George Whitney found Donnie to be too calm.

This calmness was born of confidence in the ability to turn the tables.

So could Tang Fei really turn the tables?

Unable to restrain his curiosity, George Whitney asked Donnie, “This is not something worth gambling on!”

Donnie received the small hammer signifying the listing bell from the NYSE staff, and with a soft laugh, said, “George, have you forgotten?

I’m in the gambling business!”

With the sound of the bell, ABC officially became a member of the NYSE-listed companies!

“Let’s go to the lounge and watch the battle unfold!”

Donnie, escorting George Whitney and William Mellon on either side, didn’t respond to questions from the managers of securities firms and journalists, leading them straight to the second-floor lounge of the NYSE.

Donnie and Helen took seats on the left side, facing the little Rockefeller who was already sitting there, as well as George Whitney, William Mellon, Owen Young, and Charles Merrill, who had just come in with Donnie.

This was a battle with no more private struggles.

By this point, everyone present understood that the battle had come down to a straightforward confrontation with swords drawn!

The one handling the operations for the likes of little Rockefeller was none other than George Whitney’s brother, Richard Whitney, a director of the NYSE and one of the biggest swindlers in its history!

“ABC has listed at 60 cents a share, and now Barry Company is dumping 10,000 shares of ABC stock with nobody taking the bait!” Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on ɴovᴇl_Firᴇ.ɴet

After receiving the report from his employee, Richard Whitney stood in the middle of the lounge.

For this showdown, the NYSE had considerately hung a blackboard in the lounge, and today, this blackboard would be the tangible representation of the war!

“Donnie, make your move.

We know you certainly have some tricks up your sleeve.

This is only the first round; everyone is waiting for your turn!”

Although the Rockefeller Family had initiated this battle, George Whitney was now in charge of it!

I want to see how the individual investors and securities firms react.

What if they think ABC has promising prospects and decide to buy in?”

George Whitney and the others shook their heads, and Charles Merrill, with the smile of a victor, said, “Donnie, Wall Street is a very pragmatic place.

Under such circumstances, no one but you will make a move!”

Donnie remained silent; he just wanted to see the current situation, how the ordinary shareholders reacted to the expected surge in ABC’s stock, which was under attack by other companies.
