America: Starting with Daily Intelligence Chapter 51

51: Chapter 51: New Intelligence 51: Chapter 51: New Intelligence A group of people had been sent away.

David and Gate also left the camp, they had long been accustomed to the homeless life of wandering on the streets, knowing many a place to sleep, bathe, and eat.

Joining the Beggar Gang was merely seen as fun, a way to find something serious to do.

According to Dominic, even without the subsidy and shopping voucher, these two lived much better than most homeless.

Because they often scoped out ordinary communities, they were acutely aware of every household’s comings and goings.

If someone was away for a prolonged period or had left a message about being out of town, they’d just pick up their bags and move in, enjoying a life with a house and a bed for a while.

When the homeowner returned, they’d clean up and leave in advance, moving on to squat in another house, generally refraining from stealing or causing damage.

They were very practiced at this.

They even knew the placement of items in the houses better than the owners themselves.

But occasionally, there’d be hiccups.

David had been arrested several times for breaking and entering, but he wasn’t afraid.

After all, he was still a minor, and even if he did get in trouble, he would have a chance to start over once he turned eighteen.

Gate simply didn’t know what else to do, getting by day to day on the streets.

White girls like her were not uncommon, it was just a matter of respecting personal choices.

Suddenly, the camp was left with only a few people.

Simone didn’t drink much today, perhaps preoccupied with her own concerns.

After having an in-depth conversation with Jason and Fitz, she pondered how to develop her business further, keeping her mind clear.

Observing it was getting late, she said goodbye to the others and left.

“Well, it’s just the few of us now.”

Allen Zhang looked at Blitz, Dominic, and Sieg.

He was also surprised that Blitz hadn’t gone to see Sarah off today?

“Don’t you have work tomorrow, Blitz?” Allen Zhang asked.

I can’t afford to miss a day at my job if I want to shake off being homeless – I need the money!”

Blitz said, “I guess most of us here have the same trouble.

Just relying on entry-level jobs and part-time hourly wages, it’s difficult to rent a place and become official residents.”

Even renting a room in a motel costs hundreds of dollars a month, while his hourly wage is only 18 US dollars.

Working less than 40 hours a week, he still needs to buy antihypertensive drugs at the hospital to maintain health, and he has to pay off the medical bills accumulated on his medical white card.

Saving money was virtually impossible.

Continuing under the current circumstances almost guaranteed a never-ending cycle of struggle.

“As much as I’d like to help, it’s quite clear we’re powerless too.”

Allen Zhang shrugged; even though he could gradually improve his own life, the idea of buying a house or a car was still far-fetched – the money he earned was nowhere near enough.

He also needed to save up to fix his offline identity.

The ranking of [Daily Information] was only at E-grade currently, not very helpful.

After a few more words, they noted the late hour and went their separate ways.

Tomorrow, there were cans to collect and work to attend to.

[Daily Information: Mig, an outstanding officer from the Southern Branch, was attacked out of retaliation by a group of Black people during his administrative leave.

He sustained serious injuries and is unconscious with life-threatening risks.

His hiding place is under Kajin Bridge No.

Details: The main plotters of the retaliation case are family members of a Black man named Atlant, who was shot dead by Officer Mig.

— Long press to download the video; video source is verifiable.]

Allen Zhang was awakened by the notification tone of [Daily Information], groggily grabbing his phone to look.

Instantly, he was taken aback.

Officer Mig was actually retaliated against by Black?

This is unacceptable!

These Black guys really have some nerve.

Allen Zhang downloaded the video and took a glance.

The footage was very clear, as though someone was hiding nearby filming with a phone – basically a pedestrian’s viewpoint.

The time on the top right corner of the mobile phone showed it was around 4 AM.

After attending a dinner with the California Police Union, thankful for the union’s assistance in resolving another troublesome matter and drunk as a skunk, Mig unfortunately encountered an attack by a few Black guys while walking home.

Outnumbered and without a firearm, he was severely beaten and left under a bridge.

You really can’t walk the streets at night!!

In the dead of night, a few Blacks suddenly emerged, like haunting ghosts.

They accidentally hit him in the back of his head with a baseball bat, thinking he was dead, and then fled in a panic after dumping the body.

Who would have thought that Officer Mig would have such tenacity to survive until now?

Saving a life is more meritorious than building a seven-tiered pagoda.

West Coast can’t lose Officer Mig!!

[Daily Intel: Mike’s Scrap Yard is selling a 1976 GMC motorhome parked in the suburbs for the past twenty years for a low price of 200 US Dollars.

Details: Someone at Old Pick’s auto repair shop can fix it.]

A motorhome parked in the suburbs at Mike’s Scrap Yard?

For only 200 US Dollars?

Just yesterday, I got some relevant information and industry knowledge from those car dealers, and today I’ve unlocked a new map and valuable vehicle information.

Allen Zhang took out his phone and searched for the GMC motorhome, finding that one in good condition would cost at least 7000-10000 US Dollars!

If he could get his hands on this vehicle and have it maintained and repaired, wouldn’t that mean he could move out of his tent?

If it appears in the Daily Intel, unless it’s something outrageous, it must have some value, right?

Deciding instantly, Allen Zhang planned to check out the car graveyard, but before that, he had to rescue Officer Mig.

As Jason said, if you can’t handle law enforcement, it’s hard to do any business.

The best method is to get involved in the muck!

Establishing a relationship with the police would definitely benefit the Beggar Gang’s influence on the streets.

At least the small-time gangsters wouldn’t dare trouble them.

After careful consideration, Allen Zhang decided to leave this important task to Dominic and Sieg.

After all, Sieg had met Officer Mig before, so surely there was some recognition, and Dominic, as the second in command of the Beggar Gang, could also deal with him.

He himself would act as a bystander, after all, he hadn’t forgotten that he was thoroughly undocumented.

It’s not great to explain oneself in front of an officer, and what if they get the urge to check on him?

[Daily Intel: Sunkist Bar at 66 Meiji Street will start a striptease show tonight at 22:00, where a client will lose a Hamilton super-thin mechanical watch.

Details: Old Mike who has a past with you will get into conflict with the client over finding the watch, a local gang will intervene assertively, leading to a violent bloody incident with 2 dead and 16 injured.]

A Hamilton mechanical watch?

Thank goodness, if it weren’t for the follow-up information in the intel, Allen Zhang might have really decided to rush in!

Another day of seeking good fortune and avoiding disaster.

After getting up and washing up a little, Allen Zhang went out to wake Sieg.

However, he found that the tent was empty – Sieg had already woken up.

Another energetic homeless man.

After securing stable shelter and food, his condition improved significantly, returning to the tough demeanor and routine from his military days, regaining a bit of a soldier’s composure, at least not sleeping in.

Allen Zhang had no choice but to call Dominic instead, pulling him out of sleep to boot up.
