The sound echoed lightly through the quiet room. Xuanyan’s head tilted to the side from the impact. He hadn’t expected it, but there was no force behind the slap—no anger either. Because of that, he didn’t react outwardly, he simply looked back at her.
"Where were you?" Yanmei asked again, her voice rising just a little, a thin edge of coldness slipping through. "Do you have any idea how much Lingling cried in the last two days?"
Xuanyan let out a deep sigh when she asked about lingling, he could handle Lingling later. Right now, Yanmei’s nearness was a far more immediate problem—one his composure was already failing to manage. My system also hasn’t triggered any missions toward Yanmei, is it because she lacks any feelings toward me? Xuanyan finally calmed down after a while, though his heartbeat stubbornly refused to cooperate. It thudded harder the more he thought about what had just happened. He had hugged another woman.
