Dark looked at the sword, an expression of realization forming on his face, and he nodded. "I see." He picked the sword up.
"Twilight is one of the best weapons created from Arcane Blacksmithing. Arcane blacksmithing makes use of a force that is common to people of this world; it is at least ten times greater than magic," Dark said.
"He is wrong. The Arcane they know of is watered down and heavily weak. Original Arcane is at least a hundred times stronger than magic, and that number can rapidly shoot up the better you get," Twilight said to Riven.
"Hmmm, so basically, what they have here isn’t even fully Arcane yet?" Riven asked her.
"Yes, but they are close. The blade Twilight, in which I reside, is truly a masterpiece for this world," Twilight added.
Dark placed Twilight back down and then looked up. "The reason Twilight was made was because the elves and the dragons had requested it.
I do not know the full story, but they had laid hands on an extremely powerful and rare spirit, and they were given the mantle to seal the spirit.
But the dragons didn’t want to do that. They wanted to channel the spirit into a weapon, so they sought the help of the elves, who were masters of spirits, and then the dwarves.
But sadly, when the spirit was set in the blade, no one could wield it. It only responded to the forceful measures of the Dragon King at the time.
But after a few days of holding the sword, he was damaged beyond repair, very close to death. After that, no one dared force use on the sword. It was still an extremely sharp and powerful sword without trying to harness its true power.
But it soon became like a normal sword across the years, handed down from one possible user to the next, as many tried to uncover its secrets.
Until my master handed it to me, and said I should find the one to reach into the sword and pull the true power from within.
So I did, and I gave it to you, a random sharp sword. I said nothing about it so that you wouldn’t try to force it and end up dead.
I hoped that you would be capable of revealing the strength of this sword. And it seems my thoughts were right and you are the right one for the sword.
I am happy beyond words that the blade that has been carried for thousands of years has finally found an owner to wield it.
I wish I could see or talk to the spirit that resides in it one day as well," Dark said.
Riven was shocked by the history of this sword—of Twilight. Some things were still confusing and shrouded in mystery, like the reason she was sent here, how her sister got to be inside the book, and many more things.
But for now, he was fine with what he had gained. The information was helpful, and he knew the importance of the sword that he carried.
He picked up Twilight. "Thank you for giving her to me. Twilight has been the help that carried me through difficult times, and I’ve really bonded with her and the spirit inside.
And so that leads me to what I want to ask for next. The spirit inside the sword was not sealed properly, and she is losing her concept," Riven said.
Dark’s eyes widened when he heard that; he understood how dire a spirit losing their concept could be.
"Do you mean the sword can’t keep her contained again? If she loses all her concept, that would be her end, and a mission of thousands of years will come to an end," Dark said.
"I don’t care about the mission. All I want is to ensure that she is fine and she survives, and that’s by all means.
There is a solution that she told me about, but I need your help to get started," Riven said, looking Dark right in the eye.
"Hmmm, what could that be?" Dark asked.
"I need to perfect Arcane Blacksmithing, and craft something known as the Philosopher’s Stone. That way I can return her concept and make sure that she survives," Riven explained.
"Master Arcane Blacksmithing? That’s impossible. This is something that takes a lifetime to learn, and many do not learn it. You would have to master magic, force learn new magical elements other than your innate ones, and master them to the pinnacle, at least sixth or seventh circle.
Then you would have to master blacksmithing, and magic blacksmithing, and become one of the best before you can begin to touch the surface of Arcane Blacksmithing.
I believe you are a talent that only comes once in a lifetime, but even for you, this is impossible," Dark explained.
Riven nodded. "I understand your point, and honestly, it doesn’t seem like I’ll make it to my goal. But I’d rather try and give my best and know that I did, rather than let her concept vanish without attempting.
I am not asking for much here, and I don’t even want you to teach me. This reckless journey is something that I will embark on my own.
All I ask is that you provide me the startup materials to begin, and that you give me some piece of advice whenever I need one," Riven said. He got on his feet and then got down on his knee, head buried into the ground.
"This is not only for Twilight, but for myself as well. I need to learn this to protect my family and those I care about.
I don’t want to lose any more than I have lost already. I don’t want their names and memories to be the only thing that remains of them; I want to make sure I see them when I open my eyes.
I understand if this might sound selfish or stupid, but it’s my stand, and the reason that I want to learn, that I need to learn," Riven said, head still on the ground.
