It was a solid sphere, and with Lin Yi’s naked eye, he couldn’t determine if it was pure white, grayish-white, or some other color entirely, nor could be discern what material it was made of. From his first impression, he guessed it was some kind of stone.
The stone was etched with several concentric circles that looked like an eagle’s eye, and at the center of this eagle eye seemed to be a symbol crafted as though poured from boiling gold.
And it was this very stone that was actually radiating light.
"This is the ’light bulb’?!"
Lin Yi sucked in a breath of cool air, his heart filled with an indescribable taste. Only at this moment did he realize that he had some huge misunderstanding of the street lights within this school campus.
"Could all the light in the school campus come from such magical stones?"
"Wait a second!!" Lin Yi’s pupils shook in an instant. "It’s because of this, so conventional lighting devices fail to produce the effect of driving away Non-human Classmates!"
Little Genius’s flashlight, which had no effect after classroom lights went out, wasn’t repelling the Non-human Classmates because of the light, but because of the... "light" emitted by such magical stones?
"Hey, wait a moment..."

The image of the stone bridge leading from the Watchtower to the castle surfaced in Lin Yi’s mind. The bridge piers had shrine-like candles on them... Could those flames be of the same nature as this magical stone?
And the old kerosene lamp!
"Hiss..." Lin Yi inwardly took a sharp breath, instantly thinking of four characters, "Supernatural Traits."
The radiance emitted by objects with Supernatural Traits was key to repelling the Non-human Classmates!
"The energy source supporting the luminosity of certain facilities inside the campus is not ’electricity’, but something with Supernatural Traits!"
"Otherwise, how could the electrical circuitry possibly overcome the distortions brought by layered twists to transport ’electricity’ throughout the entire campus?"
"Because the street lights don’t use electricity, but a special energy source!"
Perhaps it was a reactor like Iron Man’s, or some special kind of energy, but whatever it was, it was unlikely to be a power grid!
The moment this scene crossed his mind, Lin Yi felt as if an invisible shackle in his thoughts had been unlocked, and his "cognition" seemed to reach into a brand new domain.
But before he could ponder further, the light from the street lamp flickered like a blink...
This one flicker of the light stirred a violent unease in Lin Yi’s heart.
"Damn it, even the street lights can flicker?!"
"How many unstable spots exist within the campus?"
Lin Yi narrowed his eyes, looking toward the mist with a wary sense of unease. Whether it was an illusion or something else, he felt the outlines of the Human Sculptures within the mist seemed clearer, as if they were about to burst through and attack...
And while he hesitated, the light from the street lamp flickered again.
This time, the flicker lasted for half a second. When the light came back on, three ferocious Human Sculptures "whooshed" into appearance before him!
Lin Yi’s pupils contracted sharply, his body subconsciously stepping back half a step, but then, thinking of something, he turned around and indeed, just three paces behind, saw several Human Sculptures!
These Human Sculptures remained completely still in the light, yet posed as if they were about to pounce, only a few paces away from Lin Yi and Wei Liang!
As the light shone upon them, a hissing white mist began to emerge from their bodies. Unlike the Human Sculptures that transformed into Non-human Classmates, these sculptures didn’t seem to have the ability to transform. As the mist spewed from within them, their bodies became rigid, with a texture more akin to that of pure white plaster.
Rather than "Human Sculptures transforming into Non-human Classmates", what was occurring looked more like "Nocturnal species being turned into stinky mud sculptures under the sun."
Unable to consider the difference at the moment, a rush of impulse surged in Lin Yi’s heart to kick them back into the mist; however, his logic suppressed the urge, reminding him that the light was toxic to them, and the mist was what allowed them to recover.
"Not only can’t I touch them, but I also have to ensure they remain exposed to the light!"
Startled by the Human Sculptures, Lin Yi broke out in a cold sweat, but had to admit, the more critical the situation, the quicker his contingency thinking became.
Yet, he also realized an issue, the consecutive flickers of light indicated a severe problem—
"The lights are failing!"
He glanced at the street lamp again, and saw that the lamp within the lampshade seemed like it was on its last breath, with only a faint glimmer of light remaining.
What he didn’t notice was that the white paint numbers on the lamp post were also fading with the dimming light...
Just then, the shadows within the bulb started quivering...
Lin Yi’s heart skipped a beat, his gaze swiftly scanning the Human Sculptures in the mist before taking a deep breath.
