Ancestral Lineage Chapter 124

The Elyrian Healing Institute was bathed in the soft, bluish glow of its arcane energy fields. The sub-school's campus, located a short distance from the sprawling grounds of Anbord Mage Academy, was a harmonious blend of sleek, futuristic architecture and serene, bio-engineered gardens. EHI specialized in cultivating the healing affinities of its students, and everything about the place reflected this purpose—from the shimmering fountains infused with restorative nanites to the gentle hum of floating medical drones weaving between its buildings.

Harley adjusted the pale silver sash draped over her standard EHI uniform—a pristine white suit with golden highlights at the cuffs and collar. The sash bore the insignia of her title, Archwarden, a prestigious rank reserved for the most accomplished senior students. It wasn't just an honor; it was a responsibility, signifying her role as a mentor, mediator, and leader among her peers.

She stood on the open balcony of the Institute's main hall, gazing out at the distant silhouette of Anbord Mage Academy. Her golden holo-badge pulsed faintly, indicating an incoming message. With a flick of her wrist, the badge projected a small screen displaying the Academy's seal. The message was brief but clear: Archwarden Harley, report to the Atrium for special assignment details.

Harley's brow furrowed slightly as she descended the stairs. Her boots clicked softly against the polished stone floors, her mind racing with possibilities. She had heard the rumors circulating the campus—whispers of the Labyrinth Grove and the trials awaiting the Anbord teams. But what did it have to do with her?

The Atrium was alive with activity when she arrived. Drones zipped through the air, delivering data tablets to instructors, while younger students practiced focusing their healing magic under the watchful eyes of mentors. At the center of the Atrium, standing beside a glowing holographic map of the Labyrinth Grove, was Headmistress Elara. Her pristine white coat with gold trim shimmered faintly in the light, and her expression was unreadable.

"Archwarden Harley," the headmistress said, her voice calm yet authoritative. "Thank you for coming."

"Headmistress," Harley replied, bowing her head slightly. "You summoned me?"

"Yes," Elara said, gesturing to the holographic map. "As you know, Anbord Mage Academy's outing this year involves navigating the Labyrinth Grove. This isn't just a test of skill but a collaborative effort between disciplines."

Harley nodded, suppressing her curiosity. She had heard whispers that the labyrinth was alive—an evolving maze designed to respond to the thoughts and emotions of those within it. It was both a challenge and a danger.

"We've decided that the Labyrinth Grove poses unique challenges requiring the presence of trained healers," Elara continued. "Your performance and leadership as Archwarden have made you the ideal candidate to represent EHI. You will join one of the teams as their healer and advisor."

The words hung in the air, their weight sinking in. Harley's mind raced with questions. Which team? Why her? But she kept her composure. "I'm honored, Headmistress. Do you know which team I'll be assigned to?"

Elara smiled faintly, her expression softening. "Yes. But that information will be revealed tomorrow. For now, prepare yourself. The team you'll be joining has been carefully chosen. They will need your expertise—and your courage."

Harley bowed again, her pulse quickening. She had heard of the extraordinary individuals among Anbord's second years. Could she be assigned to Ethan's team? She dismissed the thought as quickly as it came. It seemed far-fetched… but the Grove was no ordinary outing.

Anyway, she was going to this outing too and she would be joining the second-year group, where Ethan was sure to be part. She couldn't help but anticipate it. She would finally fight alongside Ethan not as an Archwarden or his subordinate, but his lover and fiancée.

The assembly hall of Anbord Mage Academy was a hive of anticipation and energy. Students filled the grand, tiered seating, all dressed in sleek black tracksuits adorned with blue and white accents. The glowing threads of the designs pulsed faintly, reacting to the ambient mana in the room. Above the crowd, the Tyrants stood apart, their presence commanding respect and awe. Clad in striking red tracksuits with intricate silver and gold patterns that shimmered like liquid fire, the Tyrants exuded an aura of power and authority. Their uniforms bore custom sigils, each representing their specialty, and their golden armbands signified their rank as leaders among the students.

At the center of the hall, Miss Carmen Steil emerged from behind a curtain of dark energy. Her long black dress flowed like a shadow, and the black veil obscuring her face added an air of enigmatic authority. The room fell silent as her presence commanded immediate attention.

"Students of Anbord Mage Academy," Carmen began, her voice soft yet impossibly clear, as though it resonated directly within their minds. "The time has come for your first great trial as mages. This year, your outing will take you to a place of immense challenge and potential growth—the Labyrinth Grove."

Whispers erupted among the students. The Labyrinth Grove was legendary, spoken of in hushed tones as a living maze that tested not just magical skill but mental fortitude. Carmen raised a hand, and the hall fell silent once more.

"The Labyrinth Grove is no ordinary destination," she continued. "It is an ever-shifting network of bioluminescent flora, mechanical constructs, and arcane traps. Each team will face unique trials, tailored to exploit your weaknesses and sharpen your strengths. You will be challenged not only as individuals but as units. Success will require trust, ingenuity, and mastery of your affinities."

From the Tyrants' section, Fang Ren, the first-ranked Tyrant, stood tall and imposing. His gray hair, sharp undercut, and eerie green, gear-like eyes seemed to glow faintly as he glanced down at the student body. Leaning slightly toward his fellow Tyrant, Lu Qi, he spoke in a low voice. "The Grove, huh? This should sort the promising from the pitiful."

Lu Qi, the third-ranked Tyrant with white hair tied in a sleek ponytailed braid, smirked, his feline purple eyes narrowing. "If they make it through," he replied. "Still, it'll be fun to watch. Especially junior brother Ethan."

Ethan, sitting in the Tyrants' section among his peers, felt the weight of their gazes but kept his focus on the headmistress. His black tracksuit shimmered faintly, and the fiery crest on his chest—the mark of the 15th Tyrant—gleamed under the light. He exchanged a quick glance with Lamair Griswold, the seventh-ranked Tyrant and one of his closest friends. Lamair grinned in encouragement.

"The Labyrinth Grove reveals not just your abilities but the essence of who you are," Carmen concluded. "You have a day to prepare. Review your strategies, strengthen your bonds, and rise to the occasion. Dismissed."

As the students began filing out of the hall, Ethan remained seated for a moment, his mind whirring with anticipation. This trial wasn't just a test of skill—it was an opportunity to solidify his place among the academy's most powerful.

Lu Qi and Lamair approached him as the hall emptied. "Ready to prove yourself, junior brother?" Lu Qi teased, his tone half-joking but his gaze sharp.

Lamair chuckled. "The Grove will be intense, but you've got us watching your back."

Ethan stood; his expression resolute. "I don't plan on falling short."

Unbeknownst to them all, the Labyrinth Grove would forge bonds and rivalries in ways none of them could foresee. For Ethan, the trials ahead would push him beyond his limits—not only as a Tyrant but as a Blood Primogenitor.

Because of the outing, they would be accommodated in the academy for the day and then head to their location the next day for the outing. Ethan quickly joined up with his friends their residential area.

"You know... I feel like something huge is gonna happen. I don't know if it's good or bad though." Andriel said with a contemplative gaze.

"Moon Witch acting up again?" Ethan asked from the side causing her to give him a chilling gaze.

"Don't start what you can't end, brat."

"Now you sound like mom." Ethan said with a deadpan expression.

"Deep breaths. Deep breaths." Trevor chimed in; his face plastered with a mocking smile.

"""Trevor!""" they all exclaimed.

"Geez! You are all so serious like shit." Trevor raised his hands in mock surrender.

"Am I part, darling?" Emily suddenly asked, her red eyes glowing slightly.

"NO!" Trevor exclaimed, his already pale expression, becoming paler. If anyone told you the origin of vampires was scared of his own creation, you wouldn't believe it, but the truth was here.

"I haven't even asked about Sixtie. Don't start digging your grave so soon." Emily added in a chilly tone.

"Oh, so you also noticed." Ethan asked in intrigue.

"She's marked him. I can smell her unique scent on him." Emily answered, her tone laced with jealousy and possessiveness.

"Trevor, live a happy life." Lamair added, Lusamine on his back as he straddled her. The sight was very cute and beautiful, to be honest.

"""Carry me too!""" Lisa, Andriel and Clara all looked at Ethan with expectant gazes.

"And you too, Harem King." Lamair chuckled.

And this brings us to the scene of a very tall vampire guy with red hair and a silvery-blonde haired girl on his right shoulder, a black-haired girl on his left shoulder and a silver-haired elf in his arms.

"You look like a..." Trevor looked at him with a mocking gaze.

"A walking daycare." Trevor said as he dashed away, Emily in his arms.

"This fucking idiot... Hold on!" Ethan exclaimed as he sprinted after Trevor. Lamair and a shocked Lusamine with a broken-hearted Reginald and Jerry stared at this scene with dry gazes.

"Love sure is sweet."
