After his date with Ayumi, Zaboru returned to his usual grind, heading straight to his office, ready to start working on his next big project: a SpongeBob game. Meanwhile, Ayumi was preparing for her trip to college in Sendai Tohoku University to be exact. She had promised to call Zaboru whenever she had free time and he wasn't too busy.
Sitting at his desk, Zaboru leaned back, tapping a pencil against his temple , thinking hard.
"Hm... What kind of game should SpongeBob have?" he muttered. "There are so many good characters in SpongeBob, but 8-bit graphics are pretty limited in expressing their personalities. Should I just copy the first SpongeBob game from my previous world? The one on Game Boy Color?"
He quickly shook his head. "Nah... that game worked because players already knew who SpongeBob was. But in this world, I have to introduce him as a game character first. I need to make something that highlights his quirky, fun nature while making the gameplay engaging."
Zaboru pondered for a moment, then an idea struck him like a bolt of lightning.
"Wait a minute... what if I create a game similar to Disney's Adventures in Magical Island? A collection of mini-games where players can freely choose different activities in Bikini Bottom? Yeah... That could work! I could call it SpongeBob: Adventure in Bikini Bottom!"
Excited, he grabbed his notebook and started jotting down ideas. He decided on four distinct game modes, each highlighting different aspects of SpongeBob's world and introducing players to the various characters:
Jellyfish Catching – A platforming-style mini-game where SpongeBob and Patrick compete to catch as many jellyfish as possible within a time limit. The game would feature multiple stages, each with different hazards, like King Jellyfish appearing as a mini-boss and this can be played with 2 players.
Krabby Patty Maker – A memory-based cooking game where Squidward shouts out Krabby Patty orders, and the player must assemble them correctly within a time limit. Mistakes would make Mr. Krabs furious, adding to the challenge.
Bikini Bottom Brawl – A side-scrolling beat 'em up featuring Sandy Cheeks. SpongeBob teams up with her to fight off mischievous fish and retrieve her stolen acorns. This mode would introduce more combat mechanics, giving the game variety this one can be played with 2 players too.
Boating School Mayhem – A chaotic driving game where SpongeBob attempts to pass his boating test under Ms. Puff's guidance. However, no matter how hard the player tries, SpongeBob will always fail spectacularly, staying true to the show's humor and this will be scored based like Hang-on.
Zaboru grinned as he scribbled down additional details, considering how to incorporate other fan-favorite characters like Larry the Lobster, Pearl, and even the scheming Plankton. He also thinks inserting a secret Zabo-Man cameo somewhere in the game, just as a fun Easter egg not as Side characters , because there are plenty of characters already in SpongeBob, he might also hint a sequel introducing characters like Flying Dutchman , King Neptune , Mermaid Man , Barnacle Boy , and many characters!"
"With a format , I can introduce players to SpongeBob's world in an interactive and engaging way," he thought, his excitement growing. "It'll be perfect for kids and casual players, but still fun enough for hardcore gamers to enjoy."
Zaboru cracked his knuckles and began drafting his design document with rapid speed. His goal was to finalize the blueprints within three days so he could work on both Sentai Z-Man and SpongeBob: Adventure in Bikini Bottom in time for a January release.
As he worked, a sudden realization struck him—his birthday was only two weeks away.
"Fourteen more days..." he murmured. "On December 15th, I'll finally turn eighteen." He leaned back in his chair, staring at the ceiling. "It's crazy to think about. I'm not even legally an adult yet, and I already own a successful company. It's really different from my previous life , back then I might have just been a normal college student right now."
A small chuckle escaped his lips as he shook his head. "Well, no time to be sentimental. Gotta keep working."
With that, Zaboru refocused, pushing forward with his new project, eager to bring SpongeBob's world to life.
