After conquering EOP Embodiment Of Pain, the hidden boss of Ninja Gaiden, Endo was still hungry for more. His next challenge? Testing out a theory he had been obsessing over for weeks—defeating every boss in Gun-Nac without landing a single hit for four minutes, allowing Zabo-Man to deliver the final blow.
"I'm definitely taking down The Alien Phase 2 with Zabo-Man today!" he declared excitedly, gripping his controller as he booted up the game. His fingers twitched in anticipation. The thrill of uncovering secrets hidden deep within the game was almost as exhilarating as beating the bosses themselves.
As the game loaded, Endo methodically battled his way through the earlier bosses, carefully dodging their attacks for four minutes each before Zabo-Man appeared to finish them off. It was an exercise in patience and precision, but for a seasoned gamer like Endo, it was just another exhilarating challenge.
Then, finally, he reached the one that had eluded him—the infamous Alien Phase 2.
"Here it comes!" Endo whispered to himself, his eyes locked on the screen. The massive extraterrestrial monstrosity hovered before him, its grotesque form pulsating with a menacing glow.
For the first two minutes, he skillfully evaded the relentless barrage of projectiles, weaving through the chaos with expert timing. Then, just as he was beginning to feel comfortable, the Alien's single eye gleamed bright red—and suddenly, it split into two identical copies of itself!
"What the—?!" Endo gasped, his hands gripping the controller tighter.
This was the moment where he had always failed before, but this time, he was prepared. He forced himself to stay calm, his reflexes sharper than ever. The twin Aliens fired their attacks in perfect synchronization, making the battlefield a storm of deadly projectiles. Still, he kept dodging, refusing to let frustration take over.
"Come on, Zabo-Man... any second now...!"
Finally, at the four-minute mark, a pixelated spaceship figure with Z on its body rocketed onto the screen—Zabo-Man! With a dramatic flash, he unleashed a powerful blast at the Alien, just as expected.
"Yes!!" Endo cheered.
But something was off. Instead of the usual explosion signaling the end of the battle, the screen flickered. Then, out of nowhere, a massive silver and scarlet jet shot onto the screen, transforming mid-air into a towering robotic figure.
A distorted text from the game:
"My name is Starscream! I hail from Cybertron, and you, Zabo-Man, have disrupted the balance of this game! I must destroy you!"
Endo's jaw dropped. "Wait, what?! What is this?!"
Before he could fully process what was happening, Starscream lifted his massive arm, morphing it into a cannon. With a deafening blast, he fired directly at Zabo-Man's ship, obliterating it instantly.
"No way..." Endo muttered in disbelief. Zabo-man had just been destroyed before he could even react.
Then, another line of text appeared on the screen:
"And you, Gun-Nac! I will obliterate you as well! I shall be the greatest jet in the universe!"
Endo facepalmed. "Man, this dialogue is so dumb... but this is amazing!"
The battle against Starscream began. Unlike any boss he had faced before, Starscream constantly switched between two forms—his jet mode, where he zipped across the screen launching homing missiles and bombs, and his robot mode, where he unleashed a hail of bullets from his arm cannons and swiped viciously with an energy blade.
"Okay, this is serious now!" Endo muttered, his thumbs moving rapidly across the controller.
Without Zabo-Man's intervention, he had to rely entirely on his own skills. Starscream's attacks were relentless, forcing Endo to use every evasive maneuver in his arsenal. The jet form was fast, unpredictable, and left very little room for counterattacks. The robot form, on the other hand, was slower but incredibly aggressive with melee strikes.
For several tense minutes, Endo focused all his energy on dodging, firing whenever he found an opening. The battle raged on, his hands sweaty from the intense action. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he managed to land the final shot.
Starscream let out a digitized cry: "No! Megatron... I have failed...!"
Then, with a spectacular explosion, he was gone.
Endo leaned back, exhaling heavily. "Holy crap... that was insane."
But the surprises weren't over yet. Instead of the usual ending screen, a new cinematic played. The camera panned over a dark, mechanical world—Cybertron. A towering, ominous robot loomed in the shadows, his glowing red eyes piercing through the darkness.
"So... Starscream is dead?" a deep, menacing voice rumbled.
Then, the screen faded to black. The credits rolled. Fınd the newest release on 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱
Endo sat there, stunned. "Wait. Does this mean... a sequel is coming?"
His excitement was through the roof. If Gun-Nac had hidden an entire extra boss fight, along with a teaser for a possible sequel, then there was no telling what else was lurking in other games in future
"I gotta find more stuff , in future" he muttered, stretching his arms behind his head. "I wonder if the game store has anything new... I've already beaten all my ZESP games."
With a satisfied grin, he powered down his console. Tomorrow, he would be heading straight to the store—his adventure was far from over.
